Found this little classic out the other day, picture take on the front Of Wm Rowe & Sons Elford, The Ford capri was a MK1 3.0ltr and behind that was the Wm Rowe & Sons Mk1 P100 service van with Truckman top. Circa late 80’s

A lot of years ago I lived in Tamworth for a short while late 70s/early 80s. My old man had a mate called Mike Smith who I believe was one of the Smith Bros. Anyway one Saturday he offered my dad a ride in one of their trucks and I went along too. The first time I was ever in a truck cab. I was about 15.

Anyway I could have sworn that they were called Smith bros, but reading through this thread they must have been CTS by then as it was around 1980. Was there another Smith Bros or is my memory playing me false?

Smith bros originally then they had some problems union wise shut the lot down and restarted as CTS. consolidated transport services, decent co to work for…

Before and after the strike.

The MK 1 tractor unit had a Cummins 250 in it, was an ex Calor Gas which is why it has the metal surrounds to the rear windows instead of rubber
