Anyone got a HGV SatNav?

This agency numpty hasnt got sat nav I use a cheaper bit of kit its called a map :unamused:

Yes. I used to own the Syrius S2000 Proline Truckmate until I dropped it from my cab and broke it a few weeks ago.

Since then I have bought the S7000 Truckmate. It cost over £400 but as an agency driver I feel it is worth the investment as the routing software is very good.

Yes, I always use a map to varify the route but I have never been let down by the Truckmates. The S7000 has a 7" screen and a built in digital TV which is a nice addition for nights away.

The speed camera database is very good, along with the bridge height and weight limits.

Hi ive been using the tomtom truck now for over a year and found it quite good for hgv. although u still need to use your own heed lool.
make sure you backup before you start and also install it to an sd-card if possible some tomtoms dont have enough ram to run direct from the device memory so you have to install on a 2gb sd-card

if any of you guys want the tomtom truck what you are goin to need is

you will need a TomTom GO x20 or GO x30 series

Easyusetools program
navcore_8.070.9589
SE_ttsystem.8070.9589

i can supply a link for these 3 files above only send me a pm then all you have to do is google for the truck map and download it file size will be about 1.50gb. Western_and_Central_Europe_TRUCK_v815.2112 torrent

then to get the truck map working on your tomtom follow these instructions.

Install notes: copy over the new Navcore contents into the root/sdcard of your tomtom
Then copy over the patched ttsystem file from the archive over-write replace it with the one in your tomtom. If you don’t do this then your map will not work.

Then copy over your Map folder into the root/sdcard of your tomtom, NOT into any other folder!

From your map folder copy over 2 files which will be called something like “Western_and_Central_Europe.pna” & “Western_and_Central_Europe-19.meta” (MAKE SURE IT IS NOT THE .meta.dct FILE!!!) & also the notepad “meta” file, if you have not got one then you will find one in the Progs folder in the Keygen and paste the 3 files into the Keygen folder called “insert_meta_from_Map_here”.
Also In the Keygen folder you will find a notepad file called DeviceID, in this notepad file write your Device ID correctly all uppercase and with no spaces.

Then run the command program called “RunMeforDCT” and follow the options - (It will be option #1 then option #1 again)

After that is done, from the “insert_meta_from_Map_here” folder, copy over the newly created “.meta.dct” into your Map folder and your map will now work.

anyone have any probs just let me know

i got a pronav 3 days ago and it was telling me that the start position was not avalible when i was on the m6 so i sent it back today you cant beat tom tom.

Think i have worked out why it does that. If it is set to ‘prefer main roads’, and your start position is off the beaten track, then it won’t recognise where you are. Within a minute of driving, and as you near a main road, it continues to ‘calculate route’, and soon pops up with your location and it’s selected route. Worked brilliantly for me the other day as i was driving about in an area i knew in my car. The roads were ok (just) for an HGV, but the sat nav was trying to keep me to the main roads, the long(er) way around. Could remove some of the stress for newbie drivers in my opinion (but always back up with a map of course!)

I use a tom tom 910 and the HGV solutions software for it. I took advantage of the new software update when they offered it and it works brilliantly.
I always use a map as well and my eyes , it wont route me around a bridge or weight limit , (thats my job) but it will warn me of any (almost any) .
As with every thing take your time.

I drive a different truck nearly every day at work and they are all different heights and weights, from the 32 tonne scania to a 6.t iveco van so its brillaint for me.

I have used a simple £99 tomtom One, from halfords when my 910 broke and went away for repair though, and I have to say I was still able to drive without a problem because of a book called AA low bridge atlas!! .

Its all a matter of personal choice , I prefer the 910 because its a wider screen and remote control , I do love the look of those motorcycle mounts though , that would good to get.

bought a pronav from maplins. crashed constantly and i couldnt use it. exchanged it for another and this one wouldn’t work at all. took it back and next time i was in maplins had withdrawn them cos they got so many returned. now i use a tom tom one and cross check with the low bridge atlas if i need to. works fine although had to do 23 point turn once or twice when i neglected to check the atlas

I spent the day using a pronav properly for the first time yesterday. Must say, it worked brilliantly all day. Even re-routed me past the section of A47 that is closed just outside Peterborough :open_mouth:

Happy so far…
