Had to use blue dye poured in the containers with the guts etc in for incineration.
What’s the difference between all this and the “knacker man”?

The MLC used to dye all the BSE and OTMS waste blue, when I was doing it I’d often see cars with their washers going as the passed me and blue streaks going back along the roof of light coloured cars

Isn’t there pics on 'net somewhere of one a few years ago??
Im not suprised you used the maggots for fishing, they would smell highly ’ orrible of the stinking flesh & bound to attract the fish for miles
I remember when the yard dog was louning about, lying about six feet away from the fallen beast which was ’ breathing’ with maggots, it was an extremly hot day, and for some reason the maggots started to swarm across the yard heading in towards the dog, at an alarming speed. The dog merely glanced at first , siged & resting his head upon his paws resumed his doze. A few seconds later the dog became uneasy raising his head & taking a crouching position, his eyes now watching with piercing sharpness, as the swarm had increased massively in size, and still speeding towards the dog , getting closer with every passing second. Not many minutes had passed , & the maggots hasting towards their next feast , now reachin about nine or so inches away from the dog…well, that was close enough for him, he was up and gone, glancing over his shoulder til he was well out their way. He had no intentions of becoming their next meal ticket !, they then turned path towards me so I made a hastey exit too !!

Heck no!! Maggots eat dead or living flesh. A good example would be with sheep . Sheep are sheared in
the warmer weather , they get sweaty under their thick fleeces, so off it comes (sheared) & goes to the
wool board. You can sometimes find the sheep with maggot runs (live maggots), eating their way through
the withers/ top of shoulders, & around the tail sh***y area. This happens largley when the sheep have
been left late to sheer & the weather is too warm causing them to sweat . The effected area usual is a
dirtier colour than the rest of the fleece & on closer inspection you will see the live maggots eating the live
sheep, the make a hell of mess too !.
I remember giving someone a bit of help years ago , they had a pet lamb, bottle reared, now fully grown into a sheep, efin huge it was too they where worried incase it was goin to get maggot run, so asked if I could give them a hand to dip this sheep. So me being me said I’d help, well we lifted the sheep into the tank of water & something else in it, all good soaked it & watched as the water level went lower…& lower …until there was very little in the tank. Ok they said better lift it out now !! Hang on a mo I said wheres the ramp out , I couldn’t see one anywhere! . Ah we should be able to lift her out ok they said ,
OMG! !!
they weren’t joking either , we four of us got around the sheep & tried to lift her out, but the fleece had absorbed nearly all the water in the tank making her own weight increase dramatically. There was no way we where ever going to lift this one out, in the end we wedged the tank and tipped it with a hook , & chain on the top to the back of their car.
One school of thought in modern medicine is to cover a gangrenous wound with maggots and they will strip away the dead flesh far better than any surgeon could do.
Don’t try this at home kids!

Thats right they used them on ear infections as well, the maggots eat the Infection pus as well, a bit like the use of leeches for healing purposes, yuk, it makes me feel a bit off colour to think about those remedies!

I’ve seen a spillage, of dismembered limbs of deadstock leading up a long lane, they came back for them picking up legs & various other parts in a long trail , didn’t say how they come to loose them , but were gone in a hurry.
What do they do with the non infected stuff? Dog food etc or just burnt?
It’s not the sort of job one wants to be doing for “going rate wages, same as everywhere else”.
I can imagine people getting paid a premium for this kind of work. What’s the point of being a specialist of any kind - if you don’t get to command top dollar for it?
Personally, Cadaverine doesn’t bother me.
Putrescine does though.
Cadaverine is behind all smells like “Rotten Fish”, “Butcher Shop smell” and even “Man-oil”.
Putrescine is the smell of dustbins and drains.
just read that lot I’ll give the eggs and bacon a miss this morning just toast please

They used to use it for dog food before the rules & regs came into force, these days current legislation will dictate. With the bse there were five main parts of a bovine that had to be incinerated, they were covered in dye in containers until incineration, to keep it out of the food chain, couldnt go in dog food either.

Glad you explained what cadaverine, & putrescine was, I was about to try & find a dictionary
Most work places have there own smell, some definitely more pleasant than others
