Any Women "OUT THERE" Firstly (Driving for a Livin

Go to North Wales there’s a twenty year old girl driving an eight wheel tipper on muckaway work. she is as good as any of the male drivers on the job.

Now thats a worry. Seeing as you need to be 21 to get an LGV licence I wonder if she is older than she looks or breaking the law :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Maybe she lied about her age. 21 again!!!

Sorry, don’t know how to copy and paste quotes from other post. Tell me please.

I’ve never seen a 20-yr old girl driving a tipper round here. A girl used to run from Ellesmere Port tar plant on a Foden 6-wheeler and Roland Young used to have one - she drove eight wheelers and artics, might still be there I dunno.

Just a thought; can she not be on the Young Driver Scheme? I think a lad in our quarry is only 20 and he drives a blinged-up Gobstopper! :sunglasses:

In the top right corner of each post there are a couple of buttons.
One of them has ‘quote’ in it.

Click on that button and the ‘Post a Reply’ page pops up, with the complete text of that post in it.

You then delete any bits that you don’t want, without deleting relevant bits to change the post to say something different. Then type in your reply, as I’ve done with your post.

Make sure that the quote tags are still complete and your reply is outside them.
Quote tags are the bits in square brackets and look like this

scanialady142:

, with the text of the post between the two tags.
In effect they are ‘quote scanialady142’ ‘endquote’

If you click on the quote button on this post, you’ll see

Simon:

scanialady142:
in the top left corner, because this post is by me, quoting you.
Have a good look at how it’s all arranged, cut bits out, type bits in, generally play around in the ‘post a reply’ page.
Click on the ‘preview’ button to see what your alterations have done. Then either submit your reply or click back until you’re back in the forum page without posting any reply, whichever you prefer.

The Young LGV Driver Scheme is managed by Skills for Logistics on behalf of the Department for Transport.

The scheme provides the opportunity for a young person to obtain a full Category C driving licence at the age of 18 rather than 21 and a Category C+E licence before his or her 21st birthday. By taking the scheme, young drivers are able to do a real and productive job, whilst receiving first-class training towards LGV licence acquisition and industry specific, nationally recognised qualifications

and will be scrapped when the driver cpc comes into force as the driver cpc allows for 18 year olds to do LGV.

Under CPC rules, can an 18 year old drive a full sized lorry?
Yes, under the new regulations a person of 18 can acquire a category C (followed by a Category C+E) licence as long as they also acquire the initial Driver CPC.

I wonder how many firms will take on all these 18 year olds - I hope the government will encourage firms, or maybe insurance companies to look more favourably on younger drivers.

The young drivers scheme is more of an ‘in house’ kind of route to driving, if someone at 18 comes to one of our schools when the driver CPC is in being and passes. Then goes to a prospective employer, what will that employer say ?

“Come back when you’re 25 and have 2 years experience” at a guess…followed by “Try old Subbiebottom down the road, his motors are rough but he’ll set you on” if they have any decency about it.

I think there should be more women in the job…it’s not fair that we blokes should have to put up with this crap!

Yes more hairy arsed women truckers needed

big_■■■■■82:
…I can do the same as any male driver apart from pee standing up haha. I think more women should take this up as a profession…

When I was on my way back from Spain a few months ago I met up with a girl who was driving an artic for Stage Truck who had tipped at the same place that I had. She seemed as capable as any bloke I had ever met on the job and seemed to enjoy what she was doing.

Perhaps there should be more women in the job but I guess it just isn’t something that appeals to any more than a minority of women, just as the majority of men don’t aspire to be secretaries.

That’s a classic statement. PMSL and I was standing.

I think most newbies are a bit unsure of themselves when they start out. And if they aren’t they should be as there are load so of pitfalls that the test never prepares you for.
But if a women feels she needs a female mentor just to make a start then maybe she’s in the wrong profession.
You need to get out there and do it, good employers will give you a chance and help you, especially as good employers seem to attract decent types of drivers who will also help a newbie, even if it is accompanied by a fair bit of banter.

She seemed as capable as any bloke

:open_mouth: :open_mouth:

Hmm! Odd statement, There are those who are capable and those who are not. (in any job or walk of life) Gender does not enter into it at all to my mind.

FFS, don’t go picking my posts apart with the Political Correctness tweezers looking for some innocent comment to mis-interpret and then find fault with- that is such a womany thing to do!

I have seen a rather good looking blonde female driving and arctic tanker in North Wales. I forgett now what the company’s called by they transport milk and work out of Wrexham.

Can you imagine in your wildest dreams a single woman parent Somali woman wanting to do a container job?

Almost as unlikely as a Scouser wanting a job Mike!
