Thats true the socialist utopias such as the ussr and china it wasnt exactly a utopia for the masses.
On paper and in its purist forum communism is a fantastic idea, unfortunately when you add free thinking humans to the mix it very quickly goes down the tube.
I spent a long time traveling the globe and found utopia doesn’t exist, at least not as it was advertised.

It’s not an issue of despising our competitors.It’s an issue of calling for protectionist policies that reflect the national interest in regards to trade and the national labour market.In which case like all our other industries they aren’t dead at all it’s just that they’re being kept down and out so a few at the top can make some extra money by taking advantage of the global and EU free market economy.Which in this case includes the lower wage costs of the so called ex communist block and the Chinese Communist run regime.

I don’t think there’s anything ‘fantastic’ about a world in which everyone has to follow the Party line without dissent and without the right to own property ( for the working class masses ) and forced integration of different ethnic cultures at best.While people like Stalin and Mao and the societies which they created are the inevitable product of that ideology.As opposed to the US type of society of the 1950’s/60’s.Ironically America is probably now closer to being a globalised Communist run dictatorship like China,run in the interests of China’s ruling elite,than the free thinking place it was at that time.With an economy to match with the UK government and society following that line like sheep.

I think the idea of joining and expanding Europe was actually a Tory idea while ironically the so called hippies,in the form of ‘real’ Labour,were actually all about looking after the national interest using trade barriers and remaining outside the EU.The idea that it’s all supposedly about wealth distribution and making ‘Europe’ stronger would mean the EU states no longer being trading competitors and within a federal EU.Which is just Socialism masquerading as Capitalism with the so called ‘Capitalists’ having sold out to the Communists because,just like the corrupt Communist leaderships in China etc,they can see more personal profit in the idea of an exploited underpaid workforce and weak unions here as well as in Eastern Europe and Asia.Unlike the situation as it stood in the early 1970’s.While the situation in Greece,Spain and Ireland,as oppose to Germany’s continuing wealth,proves that the EU project has nothing to do with so called ‘wealth re distribution’.

You can’t really blame people for being upset if their livelihood is being undercut, it’s human nature. If British firms will not be patriotic and buy British transport then there’s no fighting it, money is king to most people, end of.

But there is a difference between being unhappy about the situation of how many people are here (that I fully understand) and associating all things bad with Eastern Europeans and constantly repeating all these stupid myths without giving them right to defense. (I am not talking about you again

Did I objected to any anti-east European comments here? I don’t recon any such things. I just told that this thing that drivers in UK are often not allowed even to change a bulb on health and safety grounds might be one more factor why it’s hard for them to compete with Eastern European firms. Because Eastern Europeans still do such things, as well as small repairs, and that make them cheaper by another bit.
Yes, I did it in tounge-in-cheek mode and wasn’t too clear about, but we already explained it with the person concerned.
