Another diary of my weeks on the road (sept 2012)

Another good diary. I see bsw haven’t improved the ground at Howies.
Been a long time since I saw a timber winch in operation.

very interesting as usual Niall.

I’m intrigued to know if that little cab on the crane on the 6 legger has a heater/demister in it? If so, how powered, electric, from heat from hydraulic hoses, or from the truck engine cooling system?

All the crane motors have cabs on them , they are heated by night heaters the same as the trucks have.

They have a 12v electrical wire running to them for the weighing scales , so they also all have radio/cd players as well :open_mouth: .

The 2 6x6 loaders have cb radios fitted in the cabs , this allows the operator to organise who,s getting loaded with what !.

The 6x6,s also have the truck air horns connected to a button , this means they can give you a toot to move forward when each stack is loaded.

Is a bit of a sore point with the flat bed drivers that now they have an easier job and the only time they get wet is going from the truck cab to the crane cab and we are out in all weathers :imp: .

Very interesting work you do there mate, no 2 days the same and excellent to read about
