Announcement

Good luck for the future Neil. I have enjoyed reading your posts and your book but life has to move on.
Best wishes,
Regards,
Dave.

End of an Era.

I feel like we should all bow our heads and perform some sort of ancient tribal ritual to god speed your transition to a new vocation in life.

Joking aside, best of luck with your new jobs, I’m sure it will take some adjusting to but I’m sure you’ll give it a fair crack of the whip.

Best of luck Neil, hopefully you’ll still post even though you’re changing tack.

hitch:
Best of luck with it and the new jobs
which are ?

Whatcha doing? whatcha doing? whatcha doing?

One of the jobs, the one I start on Monday evening is office and admin work for my son’s recovery company while the other one, the one I started last week, is teaching classes as a Group Fitness Instructor. I’ll have my own classes at one gym and also provide cover for other instructors, when they are on holiday, sick, injured or have other commitments, at that gym and two others in Luton. Driving trucks full time doesn’t give me the flexibility to be able to cover a class at short notice but working in my son’s company does. If it’s an evening class I can go off, do it, come back and make the time up.

Other benefits are that I can leave my place 5 minutes before I’m due to start work in the evening, walk there and still be 2 minutes early for work. No more 31 mile round trip commute so not spending money on fuel. I also regularly get to be in a studio in front of a group of women who on my instruction then get all sweaty and out of breath.  Now tell me again why I’ll come back to truck driving? :open_mouth: :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll still be reading the forums and I’ll post probably about as much as I have been recently, life’s too busy to be on here anywhere near the amount I used to be.

Is one of the new jobs as a JAUPT DCPC course inspector ?

No, but I am a qualified trainer now, just not a DCPC one. :stuck_out_tongue:

You will be missed.

I remember joining 2 and a half years ago and your posts helped tremendously.

Good luck for the future Neil.

good luck with it all, glad you’ll still be contributing on here. Always enjoyed/liked your posts! Very knowledgeable IMHO.

So what you’re saying is you’d rather watch a bunch of women get all hot and sweaty, than drive to Charnock Richard and back every night■■?

I dunno. There’s some strange people out there…

one of the jobs is making up new stories for the RDC drivers waiting rooms, and then waiting to see how long it takes to be told back to him.

Unless there is independent verification      or photo’s :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :sunglasses:

Good luck Neil.

Same here, but i don’t think he is leaving TNUK for good though.

Good Luck Coffee. I can remember watching a video you made whilst driving in euro land.

Well as has been said, at least you’ll duck the DCPC, can just imagine you in a class room listening to some baw bag tell you how to do the job you’ve been doing for the past 30 years.

Err, pretty much, although I haven’t been to Charnock Richard for a while. The furthest I’ve been from London Colney in recent weeks is East Midlands Airport.

well good luck with your new career’s, and you seem happy with it, but i and many other’s will miss reading your diary’s and watching your video’s.

It’s been a long time since I did a diary or video, 2 years since the last video in fact.

At 1:02am on the 27th of April, after some 29 years, time of death was pronounced on my truck driving career.

Do Not Resuscitate.

It’s been fun and I’ve spent the last 4 weeks working my notice just waiting for today to come and now it’s onward to new challenges and ventures doing two new jobs, neither of which thankfully requires a DCPC.

Is one of the new jobs as a JAUPT DCPC course inspector ?

I think one of his new jobs is instructor for the UK version of the EU driver rules… :smiling_imp:

All the best Neil. :sunglasses:

Good luck in your new venture Neil, I hope everything works out well for you

Will we be getting a video diary of the women working out

Good luck Neil, it’s been a few years since you came out on patrol with me but I have been reading your posts on here. Good luck for the future. Mark
