Does anyone know how I can find out if my truck will support an android auto dongle? The truck is a Scania S Series 73 plate.
I got an android auto dongle which didn’t work, probably because it’s cheap, but luckily got my money back from Amazon and without sending it back! I don’t want to pay more for one without knowing it will work.
So how do I find out?
Cheers in advance for any help
Usually if the truck does not have voice activation, it wont support Android Auto. If it does, then it should. To activate it you need to plug the phone directly into USB plug on the far left hand side of the dashboard and allow all permissions. Then press the home button on the infotainment screen and then tap on the 6 square looking button at the top of the screen.
Ah ok, I’ll give that a go. When I plug this cheap dongle in, it does offer apple play & mirroring, but I don’t get android play & the mirror doesn’t work, it’s just cheap rubbish, and yes I did buy one that was meant to have a.auto!
But if it does offer up apple play on the screen, should that mean the infotainment ‘does’ or should support voice control and/or A.Auto?
Some vehicles (bmw 2019ish) only supported Apple carplay. It mostly depends on whether the manufacturer in question has acquired the licence for each. I’m not sure about the voice control stuff, I just remember when I was looking for it myself, the manual said if the premium infotainment with voice control wasn’t fitted, it didn’t have AA, and you could use mirrorlink, which is so old, hardly any phone has it.
