That doesn’t say agency offering international work.New drivers, or semi retired looking to possibly return to the industry, welcome, no previous international experience required, no DCPC no problem and will be paid for if needed.
Driver shortage yeah right. :smiling_imp:

Is the job distance and bulk/full load?

Will the job at any point require the driver to do something beyond sitting behind the steering wheel, you know like “warehouse duties” or being a “site labourer”? If so then it won’t be for Carryfast!

It’s driving a left ■■■■■■ so that will probably discriminate against him from the get go

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves.Which agency is offering this job.
As opposed to uk local multi drop/warehouse/yard/ labourer/driver

Oh and my first class 2 job was centre, left and right hand drive in that order.

It was agencies that put a lot of the British drivers in HSF and other Dutch companies. None of us were employed directly by HSF etc. Though not sure fridge Multidrop work would have suited you to be fair. Esp not the legendary ‘day night day’ shifts

Bearing in mind that your definition of ‘multi drop’ is two drops 600 miles apart.
Which ‘agency’ was this I’m guessing not Manpower/Overdrive at Kingston on Thames.
If Carlsberg did agencies and agency work.
Yep I’ve seen my share of what I called the amateur night shift.Their idea of keeping it between the lines being from the verge of the hard shoulder to the lane 2/3 divider if not gone in the ditch after bouncing off the central reservation armco.

Still struggling with basic comprehension I see. You got that after getting confused when I said the first and last drops in Italy could be 1000km apart. Somehow you managed to get bewildered and seemed to ignore the bit where I point out that usually for us, Virginia at the time, a standard Italian run would involved at least 10 drops, up to 15, most I ever did was 18 (and that’s defining market drops a one, could do 2/3/4 drops in Rome market alone) but you got bewildered by the concept of there being 1,000km between first and last. ‘Last’ being a clue, I.e not ‘second’. You really need to see the doctor about this confusion and bewilderment.

HSF was similar but in NL, B & UK where you’d do collections on one day, tip and reload yourself in depot of an evening, drive overnight to U.K. then spend day doing deliveries all day. Frankly as it was then you wouldn’t have lasted 5 minutes at Virginia let alone HSF

I’m starting to worry about your memory problems chap

Like. Shooting. Fish. In. A. Barrel.

Lads, I think this is an argument for another time and place. In fact I’m sure of it! Lol

unbiased

I have noticed a change in Luke since the car crash , his writing style and construction has changed a lot and I suspect he has not noticed that , I have had brain damage from a motorcycle accident where a young lass didn’t see me and unfortunately was over the drink drive limit at the time , cognitive processes change and if you are talking to strangers they assume you are drunk but not drunk as the words struggle to make sense.

I know plenty who are experienced, skilled and poses the cards…conditions of work are stuck in the sixties apart from the trucks…thats why there is a shortage

No shortage of drivers, just a shortage of decent driving opportunities. I know half a dozen drivers who don’t drive. 3 work at b&q, 1 at asda and a couple now run a dog walking business. They all say the same thing and it’s not really the wages it’s that they were fed up of long hours and being spoken to like they were a bit of muck on someone’s shoes.
One of those drivers worked at bts in Carrington he didn’t have a pay rise in years but he loved the job. Owes took over and he was out the door due to the staff.
I enjoy driving both c1 and c2 wagons. But im of an age where I don’t put up with crap anymore of agency or company so I drive a flt now nice warm warehouse, toilets nearby, coffee machine. Good start time and I know when I am finishing. All for a £ 1 less than driving.

Winseer:
I reckon the tide might well go out somewhat further on the availability of block-booked truckers in particular…

I’ve not had any “fishing” calls from all the old former agencies I used to work for in the past year I’ve apparently left agency work for good…

…Well maybe not for good, but at least until every agency out there pays RM rates to compensate for the way they ponce people about so much…

Who’s the “Big Client in Basildon” offering £14.50ph - not enough to warrent paying the dartford toll to get to…? :stuck_out_tongue:

UPDATE:

That job is now being pushed for £22-£25ph… Can’t be absolutely sure it is the same client and all, but how many yards ARE there in Basildon anyways?

My Mrs reckons it ain’t worth me working the North side of the estuary - except for a full FIVER over the going rate… Well, if the current “going rate” is £22-£25ph then I’m gonna have to say “no” until that rate hits £27ph I guess… :smiling_imp:

There’s a lot of small companies in Basildon, but the main rdc there is Argos.
I have done some shifts a while back. Easy work. Cages that actually roll on to tail lift.

Can you do this as a newbie driver? Class 1 or 2?

I’m taking my Class 2 in a month and hopefully Class 1 soon after. I want to try and have my cake and eat it and do the occasional shift at max rates (e.g. Sundays or weekend evenings)… if I can get away with it?!

Thanks Carlston49. Interesting stuff

Not quite the £22-25phr LD was quoting, but still pretty decent!

thebestconnection.co.uk/jobs/hgv-driver/CFH773 - Class2
thebestconnection.co.uk/jobs/hgv-driver/CFH686 - Class1

Slightly surprising no pay differential (seems to be the same client from what you can gather), but I suspect fewer drops for Class 1 etc?
