Amazon Kindle

switchlogic:
As it turns out I just bought myself a refurb 3G one off Amazon Warehouse! £115, bargain. Looking forward to having a daily paper to read every morning no matter what country I’m in.

I guess that will be the Indie and the Guardian then? At least you’ll not have too much trouble going to sleep…

Thanks for the PM kickstart. I think I sent a reply but this Tapatalk app is crap.

Just the Guardian. Read the reviews, the Guardian is the only one that’s got the Kindle version right. But it’s no good of course if all your after is celebrity tittle tattle

Both my wife and I have kindles. She uses hers all the time. She finds it easy to download books from amazon once you have set up your account.I keep mine in the lorry and I think I’ve only charged it up once in the few months that I’ve had it. I only read books on mine so no idea what the newspapers are like.
We did not bother with the 3G version as it’s just as easy to download books when you are home.
Hope this helps.

I’m tempted (yet again!) to buy a Kindle now. Reading on the lappy is OK, but it has to be booted up, stuck somewhere stable and then charged up regularly  My missus will go potty if I buy any more gadgets :smiling_imp:

Thats why I’m waiting until after my holidays… Do you remember when you were single and you could afford to buy stuff? haha

I’ve had a 3g one since they came out and can honestly say it is to books what the ipod is to music.
You can carry up to 3500 books with you at any one time, download a newspaper wherever you are and also check your emails etc through its web browser.
I have downloaded books and newspapers throughout europe and also North Africa via 3g when on holiday. You can have a free trial of the newspapers for a couple of weeks while you are away and then either continue with your subscription or cancel when you get home. If you subscribe you also get the weekend version included.
The screen is brilliant - I have an android tab with kindle also installed but the reflection means you can only use it indoors. The kindle screen is non reflective and is as readable in full sun as it is in the shade
Amazon have got some refurbed ones for about £110 with a 12 month guarantee and to be honest I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one.

I’ve had the Amazon page loaded for the past hour or so and just trying to convince myself to click on the Buy now with 1-click button . I like using it on my HTC, no boot up time, but I do fancy the dedicated device. trouble is I also fancy an Android tablet. Decisions, decisions. :stuck_out_tongue:

Luckily, and also somewhat sadly, I don’t have that problem. Just as well as in the last few weeks I’ve splashed out on an HTC Desire HD, a new Nikon DSLR, another lens - a 10-20mm thing of beauty that gives me a slight chubby, 4x2TB external hard drives, a new camera bag - and got my eye on another, plus various other bits and bobs. I’m am completely out of control with the gadget habit and Amazon love me at the moment, not to mention I am on first name terms with the DPD delivery guy. :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought this was another post about Kindle 530 bulling himself and his truck up

If anyone uses any bit torrent sites you can download thousands of books for your kindle apps for absolutely nothing

Kerching!!
