Cyprien Fox took over Joe Priestley Transport in Newton-le-Willows the depot was on the Deacon Trading Estate. They also had depots in London,Leeds, Glasgow and Newport. They were taken over by All Transport International Group in the middle seventies who were eventualy bought out by Bibby Line Group in 1989. The depot on the Deacon estate stands empty now and is about to be demolished along with the rest of the estate to make way for houses.

i remember backloading with canned pepsi from liverpool in the late 60s, from j+h if i was desperate,but the guv,nor used to moan cause they paid lousy rates,but it was on palletts and not handball!

When I was a little one man band ( 68/69 ) I used to pick up 1 gallon flaggons of Schweppes orange cordial from J&H at Packhorse garage at Markyate on my way home from London to Kendal ( usually loaded to the gunnels ) and often I had to put 2/3 crates in the cab !! A bloke in Kendal mixed this cordial in his garage in for all the Cinemas in the area and he was always F*****g desperate to get it !! But then I would have to call in to J&Hs office to get payed they just woudn’t cough up volontary – what a bloody shower they were so eventually I told them to stuff it and the bloke in Kendal payed me double and C.O.D !!
