Air pipes

It’s not what I would do I’d quite happily change it, but being a qualified fitter going out to jobs in the past, although I’ve not been on the tools for a long time.

The general thing you hear from drivers is

I don’t know what to do

Or

I’m not paid to do it so I’m not

Fair enough in both cases really if you don’t know it could be dangerous, the other why should someone getting paid £10 per hour do the job of someone who’s getting anything upto £15.

You would only need one spare Suzie if you put a yellow fitting on the red line on the unit and a red one on the yellow line, that way you could just turn it around to fit whichever line needed replacing.

Although apparently you can’t do it, which is a shame as I think I just came up with a bloody good idea

Yes you can do it the color coding is a myth. 2 large adhustables do the trick should be part of the CPC along with changing bulbs and fuses

just make the red line the same both ends with the trailer connection on the unit as well then do the same for the yellow you can disconnect and carry a spare of each in the locker when a line goes its just like disconnecting your lines from a trailer but both ends then just push on the replacement. all you need then is a set of olives to repair the old one.

This wouldn’t be legal unfortunately as you can’t have quick release fittings on the unit end.

So how come they fit them on the back of a wagon and drag?
The lines stay with the trailer.

one set in each truck and 2 adjustable spanners and till the driver to crack on and repair it

Stanley knife and a push fit in-line air fitting , pro drivers/ owner drivers always carry a few 8-12mm of these , simple get you home fix
in fact now I think about it my wagon went thru inspection and mot with 1 on the red , in the meantime get some good bungee cord (not the £shop crap) from curtainside repairers and have suzies pointing down towards trl, just be sure your buying good suzies, I bought 1 in france fully stretched it was bearly 6ft
