Aggregate Industries

Just saw this is my local rag, I can’t believe that a big company like Aggregate Industries resorts to with holding payment

Surely they can’t be that strapped for cash

That explains why I haven’t been in to Long Rake for a month or so - I was wondering. Hope they don’t start paying til the summer - don’t fancy that place in the snow…

didn’t they do this last year?

According to the news report, yes.

They have been cutting back for years, they shut the plant at sleekburn a few years ago because it wasnt earning any money, sign of the times im afraid. I would imagine its not far from going into administration.

Yes they did exactly the same last year. They can get away with it because a lot of the hauliers they use are contracted hauliers who operate liveried vehicles on franchise, but god forbid if one of those withholds payment for a month or so.
Aggregate Industries cannot be that skint, they have recently bought Hope cement works of Lafarge.

I think memory of owning ones large tipper fleet, the cost of vehicles and how much it costs and the law have been forgotten and the dont realise what a good deal they get out of small firms and ods

Here is another British company that was taken over by foreigners or private equity in a takeover that was financed by high debt!
