If you really are self-employed, then there has to be an element of risk…
More “Paying to go to work” required of workers. It’s not enough to be paid pittance of pay anymore.
Conor:
If you do a search on here you’ll find the ones I used floating around somewhere. They’re about as watertight as it can be.As for public liability, its less than £100 for a few million of cover and is well worth having given the compensation culture in this country.
Where did you get your’s from if you don’t mind me asking?
Thanks
I have been self employed 20 yrs in various guises, and have had to take out PL Insurance on more than one assignment. If you are having to work through an umbrella you won’t need it as you are an employee of the umbrella, and likewise if you are an employee those people should hold the PL insurance. However if you are working in any self employed capacity and it is a requirement of the end client or agency putting you there you will have to get it. If you don’t get it you won’t get the gig! It covers you ( and I’m using daft examples here) if you walk into the companies office and knock an expensive vase of the table and it smashes, or say you are taken Ill whilst driving a third parties load and the frozen food is rendered useless. That type of thing… ( as I say random examples) I would always have it anyway. Go online get a quote it may not be as expensive as you think and it’s tax deductible anyway. Get the cover rather than give it to the tax man.

I already have a fully functioning LTD company complete with proper Accountant
Can’t be much good as an accountant if he hasn’t told you to get public liability insurance already.

If the accountant was suggested by another agency when the Ltd company was being set up there’s a chance hidden in the payments he’s making to the accounting company per week there’s a Liability Insurance.
Had this accountant since my previous job so they don’t know each other
Thanks for all your help everyone. By the end of today I will have the insurance so all sorted now
