Agency owe me money

…Trouble is, people rarely have any cash face to face either. You’re usually sent packing with an agreement to send some money, which then of course doesn’t materialise once you’ve left the office. :frowning:

they can do a bank transfer there and then.

Taken from the contract.

“Hourly Rate” Means £6.08 per hour being the minimum rate of pay (subject to deductions) that the employment business reasonably expects to achieve, for all hours worked by the agency worker.

They are a member of the REC gnasty gnome so something to consider.

go in the office in person. they won’t be as brave face to face.

Its a miracle anyone can get past the rotweiler with lipstick on the reception to get to the office, as this particular outfit are in a modern all bells & whistles office block just up the road from Makro sheffield.

BACS doesn’t hit a bank account for two days, and it costs around £18 to send a CHAPS transfer that still takes the rest of the morning/afternoon session to hit your account in that it can be drawn on! :open_mouth:

I’d like to know how these payday loan companies can “get it into your account same day” if they are NOT using CHAPS to do it? - ie. even if you pay the £18 at 9am, you won’t have the cash in your account until dinner time!

Borrow £100, pay £18 for a chaps transfer, pay back £150 on friday… Isn’t that how these jokers work?

I’m going to take an educated guess that somewhere in the paperwork Convoy was given when he sign up with this agency, is the paragraph about min rate to be paid, and hand written into that paragraph will be £8/hr. this is something I’ve seen dozens of times & It’s always £8/hr, so I’m guessing it’s a default figure the local agys put down.
As for the particular agy in question, and those 2 involved in running it.
I know who they are, Our paths have crossed many years ago when they worked for Alison at Driverhire Sheffield, When the DH office was based on attercliffe rd. I wouldn’t like to speculate on an open forum the reasons why DH went under, but I do know that the 2 gents in question opened this agy shortly afterwards

I’d go along with what peirre is saying and discuss the sitution with them over the monies they owe you. Then I’d seek advice from the C.A.B or a job centre because, many years ago I looked into starting an agency. I can’t remember which government department I was talking to now but they were based in Birmingham at the time. They told me I didn’t need a licene to run an agency but I did have to register with them because I had a legal obligation to pay those employed to work on my behalf whether or not I was paid for the work they did for my customers on my behalf. Unless this has changed, they have to pay you or you should report them for it. That’s what I’d do.

My agency rang me this morning, and announced a payrise for the contract I’m on. Another £1.10 per hour. Unfortunately I’m outta the country for the next week or so from Thursday.

Chaps takes 15 minutes to transfer from a company account to a private account, at least it did when I had my business 2 years ago

Ordinary cash transfers are carried out overnight, at the most but I’ve seen my son transfer money from a Lloyds account into my Co-op account and its shown up online almost immediately.

It all boils down to the person / company making a payment transfer, they can dictate a time and date for the payment to be made and it wont be processed until then

transfers are immediate, i do them myself to my daughters account.
many employers sort out the wages on a wednesday, but the bank transfer the money after midnight thursday. this is upon request. there is a delay payment option.

Transfers between accounts at the same bank are instant it’s true.

CHAPS transfers between two different banks take a session, and you have to keep badgering them to admit the money has arrived at the receiving bank.

I have conducted 4 CHAPS payments in the past few years, and ALL of them took pretty much the rest of the morning/afternoon to hit the account. On one occasion I was on holiday in cornwall, and got a stockbroker to chaps me some money straight into my then abbey account. I was in that redruth branch waiting and waiting all afternoon, until abbey finally admitted they’d received the money, despite it being chaps (wired!) at 13:10 hours. Perhaps telling them I wasn’t leaving when they were getting ready to shut up shop spurred them into action…

CHAPS transfers that appear on the account to draw on are not the same as “sideways transfers” which do not involve the bank clearing house at all, having been done in-house as a computer keyboard thing. Unforunately, most people do not bank at the same bank as their employer, so ‘transfers’ are usually not always the available option. :frowning: :frowning:

As I stated above, I bank with Co-op my son with Lloyds, he can transfer money from his account to mine and its available within minutes if not seconds, therefore all the employer (In this case Agency) has to do is go online and transfer the cash into the employees account, there is none of this waiting for hours or days for it to be cleared.
