Agency drivers

This post makes me miss the actros I had at Nisa. Even though I was there through an agency it was ‘Richies Truck’ and it was spotless since it got swept out and polished at the end of every shift (keeping it clean was a condition of having it when everyone else bar 1 had fleet trucks). My stuff stayed in it all week even though I only nighted out on Sundays. Most of the guys kept it tidy on Fridays and Saturdays but one was just like the guys you lot moan about. There are good and bad whether full time or agency. The night trunker that took my unit at rank hovis was a pig. I spent 2 days cleaning it out once and after a single shift it was littered with rubbish.

Some of us realise that our income depends on our reputation as an individual and make ■■■■ sure the next driver has no reason to complain, even going as far as putting the lines away whenever no trailer is attached to keep water and dirt out of them because its annoying to have a fault which is just a bit of dirt in the electrics lines

At Howdens if you don’t clean the wagon at the end of every shift words are said and that goes for both their fulltime drivers and agency. One fulltime driver started to not wash his unit because he knew we would do it so that got sorted. Also god forbid you don’t put all the suzies untangled on their respective holders after you’ve unhooked a trailer. I don’t actually know anyone who has been brave enough to leave them just sat on the catwalk.

The ONLY problem with AGENCY DRIVERS is they earn more money!

Really? Even when you calculate holiday pay? We have to save up for a day off

Everything in this thread also describes company drivers. after seeing the state of some “full timers” wagons id hate to see their house.

Some drivers are mingers, some have ocd, regardless of employment. The worst night drivers I’ve ever dealt with, were on maritime, and they didn’t employ agency staff  And likewise, when I was doing agency at tesco, I had to refuse a relatively new unit, as it stank of urine inside. I have no problem with agency drivers using my motor when I’m on holiday, just respect the way I do things and, just for a week, use the air suspension, pull the trailer boom out, keep the lines untangled, sweep the floor and remove the rubbish. Not a lot to ask. A little tip with the radio, turn it onto fm2, or 3, then let them tune what they like in :bulb:

I like that ^^^^^^^. Sometimes the simplest solutions are staring you in the face and you don’t even see them! Next one for you to solve Jay is my gazillion way adjustable seat that comes back adjusted a gazillion different ways that takes me three days to get nearly right again.

Adjusting the seat in passenger seat always b*ggers up my airbags :unamused: :imp:

I’m on PAYE on agency. I know one agency in Hull is paying 33 days a year holiday pay.

I’ve had to drive tramper’s vehicles after they had spent five nights away and that’s not a very pleasant experience.

I used to but there were rumours that they deducted it from us to cover it. Now I know that I either work and earn or don’t work and get nothing. It does develop a motivation to work though.

And why, not aimed at this one bloke as it seems to happen to my motor every week, does my fridge seem to be full of what looks like sock fluff and ■■■■■ every time I get back into it?

artic ■■■■ perhaps. i dare you to get a pack of digestives n play the danger biscuit game.

While we are on the subject I found a cigarette ■■■■ in the lorrys fridge after another driver had it :open_mouth: we need more female drivers i think, I was working at a company a couple of years ago and was given a unit for a day that was usually driven by a girl and I swear to this day I haven’t set foot in a lorry since that was as clean and tidy inside and I’m sure a lot of lads do keep their lorrys as mint as she did but I just haven’t been in one yet.

But is that to every worker they have or just the ones that work full time at companies that give there own staff 33 days holiday.

I’m on agency and when I get back to the yard before 6pm I can either drop the trailer and go home or put the wagon through the wash and waste some time washing down the unit. I can get at least 30 more mins out of it so I do that every time.

Another thing I like to do is get into a few conversations with people I might see in the yard. Average 15 mins per convo and that can add up to another half hour.

^ More evidence that the agency drivers on here have been lying about the all the extra dosh that they earn.

If you’re on megabucks per hour, there’s no need to try and rinse an extra half an hour out of the job.

Nice one son.

I love the agency drivers who don’t want a full time job, because they like the flexibility to pick and choose their days and times to work. Don’t see too many of them though, as I choose to be in bed at 1am on a Sunday, whereas they “choose” to be in tesco at that time :stuck_out_tongue:

I would rather work 3 long days agency and take home enough versus working at asda or some general haulage place doing 55hours a week and needing authorisation for holidays etc.

I’m not agency but we don’t keep the same wagon every day,I like to set every station to Radio one just to annoy the oldies who always have old man FM on

Old man FM, what station’s that? Radio 2 used to be (Melodies For You and all that), but nowadays it’s full of banal pop, just not the repetitive junk that’s taken over R1.
