Not the easiest thing on a mobile. Will try once back at home PC
Maybe your first port of call is to look at if you actually need all those types of cover, what it will cover you for, what you can do to mitigate your liability and exposure to claims, what your own terms and conditions will be and what you are going to charge out for your services.
It won’t be too long before you will have your own penthouse office and driving to work in your dream car at 3am
Your in charge of your own ltd company in the contract you give them price accordingly, unless you are pretend ltd working for £1 per hour more than paye

Then the alarm clock sounded waking him from his slumber, and the realisation that he’s laid on the filthy bunk of a fleet truck in a layby in the middle of nowhere kicks in …

Just a heads up for any one looking for a cheap Public Liability Insurance Policy with a 2 million pound limit,
after 2 days searching I found Blackfriars Group Online and tel 0161 300 2930 and ask for Tom Lea,
I’ve just bought my new P.L.I. policy with a 2 million limit for £109.00 to cover me for the next 12 months of him,
they cover Ltd Drivers working on an agency and if you have been Bankrupt as well,
it’s not a bad price compare to what the other big Insurance companies are offering,
and its there in the background just in case you need it or asked for it,
I hope this will help some of you to save some money,
I will not get any commission for recommending this company and I don’t work for them either ?
The reason why you require Insurance is because you are set up as a business ie Ltd Driver
Cheers.

this is my point about 5 different answers some who have taken advice others who have looked into it etc.

IMO £2M is inadequate … I’d say £5M is better as a ball park figure for a similar price, and is what most of those who do buy get

For the sake of repeating myself …You do NOT require PLI as a Ltd Co agy driver
That’s why your a Ltd Co … Fold and walk away

Which is why some would insist that you hold PLI !
Or, am I missing summat?

Ok give me the full name of the Insurance company that offers P.L.I. for £109 with 5 million limit, so I can upgrade my Insurance cover today.
Cheers
OK, in that case let me expand for the benefit of the court
Employers Liability Insurance - required if you employ people (even just one and even a casual/temp worker) but not if you are a limited company and you are the only ‘employee’ and hold 50% or more of the share capital.
Public Liability - required to protect yourself from ‘spurious’ claims along with those that you may be liable for in carrying out your duties. IE that man left his pallet truck on the pavement and I thought it was a free scooter to use, it had no brakes and I crashed into a window.
Professional Indemnity - Required if you are taking a delivery to Wales and end up in Wales (a little village in Yorkshire) and the company you are working for drain your bank balance for loss of the order, wasted fuel, wasted time, loss of the customer and all and any other expensive claim they can think of.
Only the Employers Liability is required by Law and only if you actually employ someone, the rest are like condoms - they protect against unwanted nasties from ruining the rest of your life but without a 100% guarantee

Who? …name names, then it may help others in a similar situation avoid these leaches, then hopefully they can avoid them.
Only mugs provide PLI when an agency insist on PLI just to get the megre work offered by them at pittance rates.
Because AFAIK I’ve never found an agency who pay extra to cover your PLI costs.
If they insist, walk away and find another one who doesn’t req it
This forms the substance of this thread.

YES …

Try google, or simply business

If you’ve got written into your companies T’s&C’s that you gave to the person your subcontracting to, you should be driving on their insurance. Much as you would be covered by the motor insurance so you can driver their truck. So if you’ve adequately covered the detail in your T’s&C’s you should be covered by their PLI etc
Your also correct stating employers liability isn’t required, as you should be s director of your company and not an employee. This employee malarky is something the umbrella Co’s setup and should be avoided
Try google, or simply business
Well seem you made that statement about the P.L.I. for £109 for 5 million limit cover,
I thought it would be quicker for you to tell the Insurance company name shorely ? ? ?

the last time I bought any business related insurance I used simply business
they’ve been regularly quoted on TNUK for the type of insurance you mention

Now you have me completely confused.
Should I not get the PLI that I don’t need for £2m or £5m?
As previously stated, if the purpose of solely purchasing PLI is so that you can work for agencies, then don’t buy it.
If the purpose is for something else within your business other than supplying labour to 3rd parties (ie: agencies), then buying it is on a case by case basis, and within the transport sector. £2M isn’t going to cover total losses, such as a truck, trailer, and loads that can be in excess of £1M alone. Not to mention potential damages to persons, property etc in the event of an accident
