as above…grinder and chop them out,or do as i do when im buying minibuses as my trade policy only allows for 9 seats fitted…just buy it on condition the seats are removed before uplift…pay a deposit up front and job done…they will be a bollox and rusted in otherwise.
Is there any evidence they’ve ever prosecuted anyone for driving an empty bus on a C licence?
I think I’d just drive it.
Regardless if what licence is required you could be courting trouble by attempting to drive an old bus that kind of distance. If it’s one that’s spent its life plodding around town and is designed solely for such duties a big trip might be too much for it, depending on how it’s been looked after. One of the big bus groups had taken to having some of theirs moved between operating areas by low-loader for that reason.

I agree that it is a gamble if you don’t know the history of the vehicle. I drove mine 300 miles earlier this year without any problems but I have owned it for 14 years and as it is 40 years old it is pretty basic, no computers etc. to make life difficult.
Good luck with the journey and if you drive it then take a breakdown policy to be on the safe side.
