I know people who work for Transam/EST both as employees and subbies. The money is only average as a day rate, but of course you are being paid seven days a week. Also, catering is supplied so you live for nothing while on tour. You can also earn extra money operating a spotlight, selling T shirts, “clicking” etc. Most of the blokes go back year after year, and it’s generally reckoned that you can have four months off a year and still earn what you’d earn in a year doing general haulage.
It’s not for me personally, double manning and night work don’t float my boat, but the blokes who do it seem to like it.
Just one other thing to mention about rock and roll work- they will take on slapheads but you have to have enough hair at the back to be able to make a little pony tail.
