Advice - avoiding an accident

It goes without saying that we should try and make the overtake safer and that is not the question.

Given the situation in this case, the overtaker SHOULD abort and pull in behind so you should maintain or accelerate in anticipation of this. However, it does depend on how far along, speed difference etc so I cant see a definitive answer. Like most things, assess the situation that you can see and make a judgement call

Thanks guys, plenty to think about. Yep already do what hammy 747 does, I have no desire to hold up traffic and will pull over if there is a queue behind me but increase in speed limit has reduced this a lot. As the title suggests I have no desire to be a contributing factor in an accident, in my previous job I had to attend fatals and I don’t think any stupid manoeuvre is worth it to cause a loss to a family. I did pull over to left to try and allow more room, it’s what to do with your speed, having considered replies here I think taking off the cruise maybe the best option when the idiot decides to overtake when there’s clearly no room and then just see what his reactions are when and if he spots his mistake. If he starts to brake go back on the gas if he continues the overtake apply the anchors.
