When in a Science 6th Form I made Nitrogen Triiodide from .880 Ammonia and Iodine crystals. This too would explode from the slightest provocation but not so dangerous as the similar Trichloride.
You sound like a man after my own heart; me and my lab buddy spent large amounts of our Chemistry CSE (this was the 1970βs) standing outside in the corridor because of shenanigans like that - the chemistry teacher was gutted that we got 1st and 3rd in best marks for the final exam, heβd predicted weβd both fail massively.
