Don’t know what WTF is but LDWA is Lane Departure Warning in short

ACC ,LDWA,etc will be standard fit in 2015…

Why?

So that even more half wits can drive trucks while watching videos, eating sarnies, making tea, pulling one off. Or maybe the driving time rules are being relaxed so you do 22 hours a day and you’ll be woken by the buzzer if you wander about the lanes or get too close to running up someone’s arse.

yep, and the less the person behind the wheel has to do or think the more likely they are to need electronics to take over when they fall asleep.

Must have very different driving regs over there if you drive around “pulling on off” but, hey, whatever floats your boat, fella!

And if it saves lives? It’s fine to bang on about driving standards, but collisions have been a fact of life since the wheel was invented. Sadly, we all (including you) make mistakes, and anything that reduces the death and injury from those mistakes is a positive step.

So we dumb it down to what level exactly.

I’m looking forward, not, to the results on a nice damp crowded road when the lorries equipped with emergency radar controlled braking decide for no apparent reason to apply the lot and stop dead…dead being the operative word for the concertina in their wake, some empty some artics some rigid some drags, many with imbalanced loads and brakes and tyres of varying efficiency, some changing lanes, one side of the lorry on painted white lines, some taking corners or adjusting road position to accomodate vehicles entering slip roads further back, it’ll be a field day.

There is only one person who should be in control of a lorry and thats a competent switched on driver, au fait with actually controlling the thing him or her self in all conditions, they decide when and how quickly the vehicle should be stopping, not some computer chip that can only process what the sensors its attached to receive.

As to mistakes, yes we all make them, we continue to make them, but being constantly learning beings as against programmed computers, we learn by them and apply subtle calculations at any given moment to judge what action is needed.

Be careful what you wish for, much more dumbing down with automation and you’ll be watching your lorry sail by without you.

It’s not a case of wishing for anything, just accepting the inevitable advances in technology that come our way. These things will soon be accepted as the norm, just like power steering, auto boxes and ABS are now

I agree with retarders, I’m in a 63 P320 with 12speed opticruise. It really doesn’t like stopping, you have to change to manual to make it hold gear downhill or, it’s a near runaway.
