I thought there was no lighting requirement if the road had street lighting

at least 10 metres (32 feet) away from any junction, close to the kerb and facing in the direction of the traffic flow
in a recognised parking place or lay-by
Other vehicles and trailers, and all vehicles with projecting loads, MUST NOT be left on a road at night without lights.
jackal:
i have just paid a fine for parking in a lay by on the a 15,£30. in the same lay by were 2 polish trucks which were not ticketed, when i rang to complain i was told it costs more money to recover than the fine is, so we leave them alone,
moral of the story is you cant park in your own country without paying whereas,foreigners can!!!
Thats discrimination, and a addmitance, complain about it
One way out of the fpn is to claim quite rightly, that if the police who put the fpn on the window did not wake the driver and point out that he had committed an offence, and would continue to commit that offence, then the police are failing in their duty. This worked for a driver parked in the layby just short of the M6 on the A66 westbound.
Keep parking in laybys, if you get a ticket report the theft of the bike lights you had left on . May get you off a fine and keep your batteries topped up so you can be toasty warm all night.
To be honest this money making scheme has just been thought up by a ■■■■ of a chief police officer who has no ideas about how to get his forces real crime solutions up.
My mate lives right beside the A140 in Stonham, does he need to leave his bathroom light on all night?

It’s not a new one, it was done years ago, a truck driver where I live works away for months, when he’s back he brings the unit home, he got ticketed years ago, so he ‘acquired’ a cone with a light that he sticks infront of the truck - back is against a fence.
This lay by parking thing is a pet hate of mine (as I have bored you all with it countless times in the past , so sorry here I go again!
) over the years you (not me) have been FORCED into lay bys, (many of which are rat infested sh. holes) due to numerous truck parks being closed over the years, so why do you just lie down and put up with it ? minimal H&S requirements should be basic facilities for drivers,( a rare occasion when H&S is on OUR side) but it will not happen if drivers are content to put up with it, so in my opinion it should be illegal to overnight park in ALL lay bys (except the ones next to a pub
)… and as for those of you who park in the ones where it is necsessary to pull your mirrors in
you should be also done for holding a licence without the required intelligence. (Waiting with hard hat and flak jacket on
)
Any Police that issue tickets for this should be ashamed of themselves.
