How many wagons did A.One have in Bison floors,I remember a mercury and a scammel routeman been on in bison colours and the rest going in as A.One . The a frames that they used to carry the house sides on,i went with my dad a few times on those loads. When did that job stop?when they went bust or earlier?
On the M6 the other day and saw lots of Jack Richards wagons, looked at their website and they are almost the same as A one used to be,and Jack Richards is almost a double of JMR.

Hi Keith, I put a bit on this page a bit further up about Maxhagar’s dogs, don’t know which was the worst him or the dogs, used to drink with him in the Lillycroft pub, never a dull moment, he even put us up while we were in between houses, always kept one eye on Spike.

Hi Keith, it’s been a bit colder than normal over here, I’ve managed to catch a bad cold and been laid up for the past 3 days, although it’s warmer today and still wearing my shorts, but I know I’ll have to come back to reality in 3 weeks time so am making the best of it while I can, I’ve been in contact with my kids since I came and they say it’s cold, so at least that put’s a smile on my face even though I’m full of cold.:- Jack

Hi Les, I think he did a short spell at Chapmans, he was worse than Joe Rubbery, “an ex driver” who worked himself into the office and turned into another arrogoant “bar stuard”, and your right he did work for Edward Bell, one of the most hated managers in Bradford, just to let you know Rubbery did good for himself in Transport, but not a friend of drivers, his son who also worked for K G Fielder after leaving school worked in the wool office ened up being a director of the didgitall company who worked from Salt’s mill Saltaire, who eventually sold his share and bought Huddersfield Foot ball/Rugby ground and club, which goes to show that being a arrogant GIT can pay for some folks. Regaeds :- Jack
PS Rubbey’s son was Barry Rubbery, look it up in Huddersfield rugby club.!!!
Just a thought guy’s, being a driver brought many friends and mates for life with the job, it could be a bit lonely at times when you spend days at a time by yourself, but when your parked up at the weekend mates “not only from A1 but most companies” all joined together and made it worth the while, this what you never got with managers, lots of them must be like 'Billy no Mates" and usualy with bad attitudes to match. :- Jack
