Hi, My name is John and I just found out about my uncle Jack passing away. I worked at the yard on Geldered rd as a general dogs body in the late 70s, I was about 17 then, also worked in Bradford at the warehouse where we stored whiskey bottles and I drove forklift. Since then I have lost all contact with my uncle’s, Lesley, Harold, Robin and George. Anyone remember them and know how I can contact them. My dad was Terry Robinson who passed away in the 80s in Scotland. He worked as a watchman and was buried at Lawnswood also. I lived in Germany after that and was a truck driver there for 20 years. Then moved to the USA and did some trucking here.I remember some of the guys like “Gummy” Taylor, as Harold called him and Wilkie also Reg. I gave wilkie an old wooley coat when I left. I would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hi there John, thanks for the message, if you let me know where you live in Florida, we might be able to meet up in November, I’m in Jacksonville for a month from the 1st November to the 1st December, I was working for Chapmans when Jack bought us out, and I was with A One for 25 years untill they went bust, “nothing to do with Jack”, it was the prat who bought him out when he retired, so if you make contact with me I may be able to fill you in with some of the past. Regards :-Jack Graham.

Hello Jack, Such a grand surprise to read your response. My wife and I would love to meet up with you while you are in Jacksonville. Choose a weekend that is suitable for you and we will take a drive to meet up. Keep in touch via e-mail to make final arrangements. Look forward to meeting you! Best Regards, John

You were missed Alan, but not to worry, we had a few pints thinking and talking about you, I have just downloaded some pictures from Joyce and Billy Parky, I will email them to you soon.
We were mostly concerned that your wife was OK and that she is recovering. :-Jack

Oh! dear Stuart, may-be that’s where your contact numbers went last year, “just a thought”. :frowning: :imp: :-Jack.

Sorry this is a bit off topic, and hope you Leeds lads don’t mind. I posted this on the “Old cafe” site, but as it involves Leeds I thought I’d put it on here as well. I’d be great if some of you older lads that lived or worked in the area, might know of, or used this place…

Cheers…Fergie

A mate of mine asked me to post this one up as he was a friend of the sons owner, and use to spend many a summers holiday in and around the cafe, and still keeps in touch with his friend today.

It’s Radcliffe’s Transport Cafe on Kirkstall Rd, Leeds, and was very near the Craven dairy. The owner was George Radcliffe an ex army chef…a very busy place, with cracking food.
This would be the late '50’s - '60’s. Anyone remember the cafe,.

I’m not 100% sure, but when I saw JMR last year he didn’t tell me where it was, but some-one said it had gone to a guy in South Wales, “may-be Robbin will know”. :-Jack.

Hi guy’s, had a call from Jack the painter today, he apologised for not being at the reunion, unfortunately he was in hospital having treatment for his cancer, but he’s back at home now, and I wished him all the best from us all.
He also said he wants to know when our next reunion will be, because with luck he will be there next time, so we can start now if you all like, to come up with another date for our next get together, that’s assuming you all want another one, and can someone wake up “Dreva”, god knows how he missed the last one, “but he did, what a plonker”. :smiling_imp:
Regards :-Jack Graham.

Wow!, where have you all gone, dont tell me you’ve all given up on the website, I’m off to the US next Tuesday for a month, Ive arranged to see John Robinson who contacted us through the website who now lives in Florida, I’m hopping to send info from him via my sister’s computer so you can keep up on the gossip, I’ve sent him some photo’s of ours from the website, and hope to fill him in with what happened to A one after he left, remember he said he was related to JMR, but lost contact since moving away, so what about it have you all gone to sleep, or should we have a reunion every weekend just to keep in contact. :sunglasses:  :smiling_imp:  Regards :-Jack.
