A yes man

I’ve walked out of 4 jobs because of management crap

Yes men or " workplace heroes " as I like to call them, are simply doing nobody any favours.

Treat them like the scum that they are.

So this isn’t the ■■■■■■■■■ super injunction thread then? :open_mouth:

Had one of those when I was at a well known earthmoving firm. Traffic was busy so I stopped for a 15 in the quarry. We had trackers but as I was having a legit break thought nothing of it. One driver comes past and starts broadcasting over the cb about “you’ll be getting a call from the office, stopping this early…” All of a sudden the office do ring, pointing out that it wasn’t breaktime etc. I asked if the tracker showed “break” to which they told me it “doesn’t need to, one of your workmates rang us.”
My notice went in by the end of that week.

First day back on shift today and i thought about this thread.

What made me think was how few of the ''sod ‘em i’m not rushing about eff ‘em’’ types were desperate to get past me pushing and shoving each other bulging eyed to get that few seconds in front.
Those steady eddy lads must have been dossing in the cafe i thought, then i remembered no bugger’s got 5 minutes to live so slowly are they taking it :unamused: that the cafes have closed down due to lack of custom.

Then i got to thinking about all those good jobs that just aint there any more, the ones replaced by the logistical four and the green reaper, maybe if those who winged and whined about every bloody job they had to do had just got on with it instead of shooting themselves in the foot by making it as difficult as possible for the company, those good jobs might still be in house paying proper terms and conditions.

There is such a thing as bolloxing up good jobs, if the company can’t operate efficiently and economically because those who are or rather were on a good number are/were too thick to realise that looking after the job is in their own interests too.

Just wondered like.

There’s a middle of the road approach which works, if you kick off at every job that might be slightly inconvenient, make sure you’re delayed on the first run or find yet another defect so you can’t make the timed second and other similar ■■■■ 'em about routines, don’t be surprised if you find yourself stuck on crap wages in a crappy job for all your driving life.
We’ve all worked with blokes whom if you paid them a grand a week to lie in bed they’d still find summat to winge about.
Carry on like that in one of the better jobs and don’t be surprised if they find a way to ease you out or you find yourself number one on the redundancy list should a downturn hit, a bit of give and take all round works wonders.

You don’t have to be a pushover to be amenable and cooperative, you can be efficient and productive without being walked on, it usually pays well too.

Always easier for the planner to give work that requires nous to the capable who won’t moan, obvious really, no point in giving it to those who simply won’t/can’t do it, however drivers who can do don’t have any trouble finding other jobs and the company know it, so it tends to balance itself out, if you’re getting put on too much a word in managements ear usually bears fruit, well it does if you’re the sort who doesn’t moan every hour of every day unless you have the best going every time, when you do say something they sit up and take notice, good drivers are in very short supply.

100% this.

I think you mean precedent.

Try telling that to all the Brain Haulage and Goodwayes drivers. They won’t have it :unamused:

I say yes. So when I say no, my planner knows it can’t be done. …
