That’s a great shot “GF”, probably pre war and I note it was “Athersmith & Sons” which obviously morphed into “Athersmith Bros.” i.e. Billy ( The Boss) , Harold ( Who became the BRS Manager for the Morecambe Bay Group when they were nationalised in 1948) and Alf who I don’t believe figured much within the firm. The Morecambe Bay Group was one of the first to be de-nationalised in the early 50’s which is probably when they called the firm “Athersmith Bros” when they started up again. Brady’s finally bought them out in around 1973 but their traffic had started to decline and the writing was “on the wall” so Billy retired. I understood from my old Pal Jack Brady RIP it was more of a “hollow” victory for them but they finally achieved their ambition of taking Athersmiths over as they had never got on as the Athersmith Bros looked on Bradys as upstarts in Barrow ! Cheers Bewick.

Now I just fancy my chances on this beauty Larry, I wonder what it’s spec was as IIRC The Invincible was the “proper” Guy 8 wheeler so it maybe have had the 150 LX/DB 5 speed ?/ and double drive bogie. What do you reckon ? Cheers Dennis.

Looking at the axle ends Larry they look identical so it possibly is double drive but it was a fine motor in it’s day, Radio, shaver point, cig lighter What !!!
Cheers Dennis.
