No longer bright and shiny a Class 50 ekes out its last few days in service, a bit like the very run down condition of the final Routemaster buses running in London in 2004/5. There are some interesting comments, particularly the last few arguing over potential speed of the class.

Sorry to take this off thread but talking about cold starts this always had the hair on my arms standing up!
As a teenager on exercise somewhere in West Germany dug into a trench and hearing these behemoths at 2am in the morning moving around and knowing that they couldn’t see you to avoid you was the biggest adrenaline fix in the world!
