Seemed like Rob’s (trademark?) straight-talking to me, not to mention, spot-on!
I don’t see what your problem is with Lucy’s post. It was ranting, but that was the idea! It was well punctuated and grammatically correct and served its purpose i.e. letting off steam and also reminding me that we don’t want Stralis’s in our yard . . . . ever!!!
Could it have been worse? Only if it was full of stupid dots!!!
seeing as both lucy and rob seem to know a fair bit about 430 strallies , is the fan comming on on any kind of hill normall, on the one i had it always came on as soon as it hit the slightest incline, didnt seem normal to me but as it was the only one ive drove i always wondered
also always had
c.d.m not communicating comming up on dash
d.d.m comming up
air additional heater warning
bed module failure
rear brake light failure [ sussed that one out, they were working fine
these warning just kept comming up , which really spoilt the truck for me as i was just expecting it to brake down at any time
I don’t think it’s the fan as such, I think it’s referred to as a drier/dryer (sp?) . Presumably it’s meant to be drying something, but no idea what. Yes, that’s always been the story with the Iveco’s. No idea why. Just for future reference the Renault’s do it as well, particularly the Premium.
As for the fault codes, well, we could be here all night.
thanks rob, no wonder it never got mended, i kept defecting the fan .

CDM, never had this one come on so cant help
DDM. drivers door module,
usually the heated mirror or the adjust mirror button sticking, just tap on the button to free it
air additional heater warning,
turn the night heater button on and off again and this will remove that warning light
bed module failure,
the control panel up by the top bunk that controls the blinds/windows/roof/night heater/stereo has a fault and is not communicating with the main computer
rear brake light failure,
a common fault on stralis if pulling a trailer with multi lights on it, ie the continental 3 round lights type, cant cure this unless your gaffer pays approx £150 to have a gizmo fitted to the unit
i dont know how old the vehicle is but you can have the computer updated, much the same as you do with your pc at any iveco dealer for £60, and that rectifies all of the problems you’ve mentioned except the trailer light one
the fan is designed to kick in when the engine is working hard, ie in town when higher revving or on serious hill climbs, it stops it overheating

Also happens if the trailer has LED brake lights. It’s not sensing the amount of current draw it expects when the brakes are applied, so assumes they are out. Brake light bulb, 21 Watts, LED light 1.4 -1.6 watts. On the 3 light variety, I have it on good authority that if you remove one brake light bulb from each side it will cure the problem.
Had a Stralis from new various warnings kept coming up. Took it back to the dealer several times eventually he said if it dosen’t come up with a red warning ignore them. they couldn’t cure it either. Door module one came on every time I washed it, cause the door didn’t fit right and it got wet. Still my favourite truck though inspite of its faults.
I’ve just been driving a ‘55’ reg 430 all last week and I reckon it’s a fair bit of kit, ok it hasn’t the punch of the 480 I had a couple of years ago but the auto gearbox works well and I couldn’t fault the exhaust brake, It held me back going down Stokenchurch on the M40 and comes on at 60 when using cruse control which is a bonus.
Did have a bit of trouble with the DDM warning though, and a few others that came up now and again. Not sure about the build quality either, but I don’t have to buy 'em so that doesn’t bother me too much.
One thing about them that annoys me is the size and weight of the door and it’s inability to stay open when the truck is facing slightly uphill (like on a lot of loading bays etc.). I’ve got a few bruises where it came back and hit me and I kept spilling my bl00dy coffee too!
My biggest gripe with them is the button on the floor that adjusts the steering wheel. Every time I climbed into the cab I would catch the button and the wheel would shift. Then there was those occasions while driving along, cruise control on, and I’d move my feet and the next thing I know the steering wheel is in my lap as I’ve caught the bloody button again.
Maybe it’s because the Italian drivers don’t have to wear steel toe caps and are more likely to be seen in a pair of Gucci loafers or a designer sandal they don’t catch the stupid thing.
