I was merely being a gentleman and allowing the young Angela somewhere to sit. I didnt know it was a paid for service MaggieD? She never held her hand out for a contribution and talking about hands…they were clearly visible at ALL times! Just not both at the SAME time!

Talking of fathers and sons… here is a father that graced us with his presence, his son was lurking somewhere…(sorry Gaz!)

gazzer:
I know he wasn’t a Rawlings driver but we all love him so much! he was part of the family. Also gets this thread back up there.

BBQ 1996 in typical moody style.

Is this Steve Mathews in the photo and is he still about, I was known as Frank the Tank I worked for Hays Chemicals running St Helens - Barcelona 1985 - 1995.

Frank

Yes that is Steve Matthews Frankie F. Photographed at one of my BBQ’s n the late 90’s. He is no longer driving due to some incidents that perterbed him so much that he no longer wanted to drive again. He did make it to one of our reunions (2010) but no one got a photo of him. He is alive and well.

thanks for the info, I used to know a lot of Rawlins drivers in that period 1985 - 1995 but never really new their names except Polly of course who could forget him, another name I saw was The Yetti off Ings sad to learn of his demise, I have not worked out how to put pictures on yet but it wont take long to work it out…

I remember you Frank, we ran on a couple of occaisions down to Barcelona, I was subbying for RS Hills in Fareham pulling mostly LEP trailers, I used to get the short straw most weeks and always had Barcelona groupage which could involve many on wheels deliveries even as far away as Granada :open_mouth:  Those where the days!!
