A long slow drive

Saratoga:
The journey was from Porthmadog to Whitby and the route I took was up to Bangor, then Llandudno Junction, A55, M56, M6, M62, M1, A64 and a few more A roads.

If you went via Pickering and over the North Yorkshire moors I would be worried about trying to stop that weight going down Blue Bank into Sleights!

High range, selected 2nd gear on the auto box and took it carefully using the footbrake to slow it. The trailer had brakes too. For most hills I use using 3rd and 2nd anyway and braking in plenty of time and one should

the max length of trailer you can tow with that is around 22 feet so you were probally well over

Cant be right. 22feet with a Range Rover, the caravan my parents have is over that and thats only a single axle.
Total length of my parents caravan and car is just under 40ft(by about half a foot)
:unamused:

Pic please.

No pictures, but its a Swift Freestyle with the length being just over 7 meters. 7.27 meters if i remember right.
The car we have (Skoda Superb) is 4.8m long.
Ill try and get a picture of car a caravan together if your that interested.

Yes, would be interesting to see the outfit.

Caravan max. lenght is 7mts + drawbar, which about what your saying.

However i would have thought a 23’ van on single axle is quite rare?

OP, to get back on thread, best way to get over run brakes to come on when descending hills is to dab the brake quite hard but briefly to make the trailer gain on the RR, hence applying the brakes.
