A few from Derbyshire

Here you are Flatman, some pics of the model

as you can see, it has had a few little knocks, but bearing in mind, the model was made not long after the truck was put into service in 1988 :open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:

The ā€˜real thing’ was a lovely vehicle to drive. I drove it (unofficially!!!) several times as well as some of the plant machinery it used to carry. It could be fully loaded and going up hill it would still pass other lorries such as Scannies, Volvos etc as though they were standing still! We were often asked if we were using rocket fuel! Oh, those were the days!

My dad used to drive for Bill Shepperson at kirkby on the tippers. I dont suppose you have any pics of them do you?
He had a maggie deutz.
He also drove for hills heavy haulage at pye bridge (and blackwell). a scammell crusader which looked like the npt one you`ve pictured.
Happy days

I remember Shepperson’s and Hills used to pass Shepperson’s when running out of Bentink pit with my Dad. Kids in pit’s can you imagine it these days.

I used to drive for Harry Bonsall of Ripley in the early 70’s, and Bill Sheppersons lorries used to run with us from Sutton and Silverhill Collieies to Ketton Cement works, the job was through Nottingham and District Hauliers of which both firms were members. I remember they ran Scammell Handyman units, painted green. I cannot recall any of the drivers names but I remember one of them leaving Sheppersons to set up on his own, he bought a four wheel Dodge 500 tipper painted light blue, the same driver on arriving back at Sutton Colliery one day found half his wheelnuts had sheared off on a front wheel. I do not have any photos of them, that’s the one thing I regret not taking any photos during the late sixties, early seventies. I have no Hills either as I was mainly into photographing tippers and tankers, but I do remember the Scammell Crusader, I think they had more than one? As you say ā€˜Happy Days’.

Cheers
