It’s all god a well being a clever bollo^^s when it come to getting some shifty accountant to do you tax, but I’ll tell you true tale about a bloke I know.
He was a youngish self employed builder doing the best part of Aus $ 80,000 a year and his accountant was doing him a great job so he was paying the best part of nothing in tax, so both of them were having great time living it up. Going home from a job one after noon a car t boned him at a junction, resulting in the loss of his lower right arm and most of his right leg.
Not to worry, he went and got hold of one of those ambulance chasing layers to sort things out for him. ( must be worth half a million at least )
The lawyer told him he would need of proof of earning to justify his claim, and as he was self employed the only way he could do that was to produce his tax return, and the claim would be based on that, as that was a true reflection of his income.
His choice was either confess to the tax man, tell the truth with possible jail as his future, or back out.
He’s about 40 years old now and lives alone in a caravan on a state disability pension, not so clever now.
nearly there:
While you were out earning 36500 last your who was keeping your mrs warm while you were keeping the driving seat warm.no one earns that cash on trucks even using two cards a shift.
its called earning potential! £36,500 is being ripped off
35k a year should be achievable for class 1 drivers.some earn it some don’t. If you don’t and you’d like to, you need to change something. If you work days monday to friday your probably going to struggle. If you work nights/weekends your going to get closer.
Agencies pay 12 to 17 quid an hour come weekends. And 9 to 12 nights during week. 35k is 673 a week and I know plenty of agency guys who make that.

My family commitments made it very difficult to move. After the funeral we were moved in less than a week.
Just dug out couple of my drivers p60
For april this year

4 36128
That includes extra when weekended etc
But doesmt include nights out or meal allowances tax free payments
Thats their taxable amounts
And they have one card and run 100% legal with no magnets either
Their basic is 27500 a year
Driver 2 needs pull his finger out, he’s lettting the side down
gettin-on:
Each to their own but not all driving jobs are 7-£8 hour for50 hours like stobarts etc
And there in lies the problem, they cant see past hourly pay, and I’ve never known hourly pay be any good, in my experience anyway. there are other ways to be paid that are far more lucrative. so many guys just dont get it though because all they want to hear is what does it work out to an hour .
Spoke to a mate who drives a scaffold company truck, self employed, he just told me he pays £2.74 pw NI which is what he claims to be the minimum stamp, just to keep his pensions record up.
I no an agency driver who earned £46000 working max hours for Sainsburys last year, and a firm near Goole who pay curtain side drivers £37500 for a 56 hour week Monday to Friday home every night
