70's and 80's on the A45

Something about Euston rings a bell, not sure what though, were they possibly a tipper company with maybe grey/blue 6 wheelers, might be totally missing the mark.

Hi kindle
You say your best mates grandad ran Fridged Freight, that would’nt have been Jim McLuskey would it?

orwell bridge early 80’s a45

Weren’t Euston’s the white FL and Daf tippers with green stripe and green trailers, or is that another Eustons?

Hi KW,
The John you were talking about most probably was John Weedon who had all those trucks you mentioned, believe started with B series ERF, I think Keith Carrington’s brother drove the rigid for a while and I know Frank Tovell drove the artic, was still driving for Kemballs into his 70’s. I think John weedon was related to Bob Carter by marriage or something, he was the first subby to work out of TUK yard, which was actually C.Shaw-Lovells yard, Bert was the manager.

HI KINDLE THATS RIGHT CHRIS DAD WAS JOHN WYATT OWNER OF FRIDGE FREIGHT BY THE WAY SAY HELLO TO CHRIS FOR ME WE USED TO CALL HIM MR PASTRY WHEN HE HAD CARTCO BEFORE TED SEAMAN BOUGHT IT

Ok, so does anyone know if a bloke called Jim McCluskey was the transport manager of Fridged Freight at any stage ?
Paul

Hello Prowlands, I can confirm that Jim McCluskey was Transport Manager at FF from around 1968 , 69ish through until about a couple of months before they finished in 1974. He was assistant TM to Albert Moore from about 1964 or 5. Albert being the founder of MRCT, which is still going very strong today. Unfortunately Jim died in 1994 after what can only be described as one hell of a life. I’m sure that you probably knew of the fiasco that happened in Turkey in 1976 when he had the idea of going down there for Bob Carter!

Gringo, Iv’e just noticed that you say Kenny Bell has recently passed on. I don’t know if you knew Les Edwards, but he also died a few weeks back, he was another bigger than life character that will be sadly missed.

Hi Gilbert,
thanks for that info, I’ll post reply on trans uk toprun thread as that’s probably where it belongs really
