44,000 kg truck query

Hi,

One last thing. What is the average width and height of a 44,000 kg truck trailer? Does it differ much between models?

Width = 8ft. Height can be anything you want from a low-loader a few foot off the ground right up to 16’4. I’d say average height of a curtain-sider is usually around 14-15’ but you can buy them at whatever size you want.

Hi Everyone.

Thanks for all your input.
I´ve calculated despite the costs and stress involved owning, running and maintaining a truck, I stand to save approx 8,000 euro per month owning my own vehicle compared to all the quotes I have received. It is better for me to own the vehicle and have more control of my own logisitcs. I have taken everything you have told me into consideration. Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for your input.
I appreciate it.

8000 Euros? You won’t be able to have a standard double deck trailer due to height restrictions in Europe. You can of course modify a standard curtainsider which is suitable for Euro work, but the pallets would need to be incredibly low which is unlikely. Also you are restricted to 40 tonne in Europe so it’s highly unlikely it will work in any case.

As an aside, you will never be able to buy a truck and operate it cheaper than most hauliers would currently charge you for doing the work. You can’t begin to imagine the hassles that follow the second you buy a truck, with endless amounts of expenses and red tape that you can never plan for. It’s far easier to find some other mug to do the work for you. I should know, I was one of those mugs for many years.

I agree with you about the 8000 euros per month :open_mouth: savings (complete pie in the sky :unamused: ) but unless I’m missing something, he’s never mentioned that he’ll be running to mainland Europe so your comments about height restrictions and weight are irrelevant as far as I can see.

Re the savings, you need to bin that broken calculator you’re using and buy a new one! There’s absolutely no way you’ll be making any such savings, 100% guaranteed.
