I could well be extra cooling for heavy haulage, with some very heavy loads the speed is greatly reduced so poor air flow through the rad & with the motor working hard at say 200 tons, some extra cooling might be required.

Ross.

When Derek Parnaby bought the motor a genuine bull nose bonnet was grafted on.Just for show all his wagons were always different.

Some pics of Scania when Gallachers had it one of Parnabys Scammell s24

thanks for that chaps

i know its a 113 but surely it still counts!

Don’t think so it’s not a 143 is it ? end of.

still a 3 series, plus i bet it could of matched any 43 back in the day

I know what your saying, a really good 113 360 could often ‘best’ a poor 143, but across the board, the V8’s were more than a match for the 6 potter of the day.

Ross.

Now this is how a 143 should look!

Not a 143 but you needed one if you wanted to pass it, went like a TRAIN

Did the guy that own that come from the Yorkshire area, looks familiar, used to run sand out of reigate for the glass bottle factory in leeds pre 2000 I had a 144 topline and his 113 walked all over it, I think it had been in feathers, but the 144 did seem under powered.
Also just looked and that 144 is still on the road R414 OEF in red now if any one spots it.
I have also had a couple of 143s to pilot the best prob F170 RTL 450, now that did pull, first truck I drove that would go over the A66 fully freighted 38 tonnes with out having to change gears on the hills pre limiter as well, just well for a few months any way, oh what fun those days were haha.
I am sure I have some photos some were, will have to try dig em out.

this was my dads from about 2001 till 2009, before that it was arw transport, owner driver from derbyshire think it did work for charcon blocks, we had it on tippers all the time we had it, its getting refurbed now,

Not 143s but well known firms so worth a look!

superb
