On my old FM it would bang like ■■■■ and shoot flames out the stack.
On the FH it just makes a horrible noise.
For those reasons alone I tend to switch the exhauster off until the engine’s warm

Aha! weirdly we talked about this tonight. That’s called a ‘shotgun’ on a bike and (some ) bikers will hit the engine cut out switch mid flow, give it a bit of gas and flick back, bang and nice wee flames if you’re lucky…
Thanks, I’ll not try that then!
We used to do it with my GTT but it’s different if it’s not yours

Very true. Plus, it doesn’t really fit with the ‘professional’ driving image
I dunno. The first time the FM did it the cb was full of folk egging me on to do it again

By this I meant I would treat so wine else kit better than my own. Especially if I couldn’t afford to replace it

No worries, I got that. Me too, I won’t even drive the OH’s car (or ride his bike) for fear of ever damaging them (even though he wouldn’t go spare) I just couldn’t bear it if I did damage someone else’s vehicle.
Drift:
Ignore the trolls Coaster, you ask a question because you want an answer (not to be ridiculed) and the pont of a forum like this is to help in my view anyway.Just for the record the 26t rigid Scania I drive has the exhaust brake on the pedal, you press it down slightly (you feel the free play in the pedal) and it engages before the normal brakes kick in, the revs need to be up a bit for it to work effectively and its a handy thing on hills (Shropshire hills recently with a full load up and down was interesting
) I have a switch on the dash for Off or Auto enabled.
1st off drift I’m not a troll …
2nd to the OP forget what things were called in the Services.
Just ask what x y z is and you’ll find answers follow with ease.
3 I apologize if I sounded sarky but as it’s been said a shunt brake as you know is prob only on a military vehicle of that operation .
4 we get some real ding dongs asking window licking questions.
Nick.
Ps welcome to the mad house .
