thanks for all you help. today i bought one of these…

inverter

seems quite good. me being my impaitent self paid a little bit more than the one shown    but im up and running now and it will powerful enough for other things aswell.

I use a 24 volt, 150 watt version of that make to run my laptop and it works a treat. Doesn’t seem to knock much out of the batteries either as I fell asleep with it, and the laptop, on the other night which means it was on for about 11 hours in total and truck started no problem.

Same as that, i often fall asleep with the inverter/laptop plugged in, and as of yet had no problems with batteries going flat…

Th added bonus of an inverter is also you can use your household phone chargers too, no need for car chargers.

jessicas dad:
battery life is a bit poor but ive just set up charger lead so i can just plug it in.

i found the batteries to be a bit poor on it as well. dont know why though.

glad youre happy with it.

take it easy

have you not set your laptop to shut down after a few hours of inactivity?

No, for various reasons it is set to always on when on mains power.

you can change it yourself (i hope im not teaching you to ■■■■ eggs here) but if you right click on your battery/power indicator down the bottom in the icon tray it will open up the power properties. you should be able to change it in there.

Just dont blow the laptop up or your in trouble me thinks

Yeah I know, but mostly I need it to be always on, and not shut down when it thinks there is no activity, when on mains power and if I change it while I am away then I will forget to change it back when I come home.  I have the various power options along with what happens when the power button is pressed and what happens when the lid is closed set just the way I like/need it. Like I say the inverter takes hardly anything out of the batteries so it isn’t an issue really.
