2 bloody hours waiting because he can't see me

A small stick or other general debris inserted into the bell ensures that you can retire back to your cab safe in the knowledge that very shortly a red faced man will be along to tip you!

Wouldve phones the office after 10mins and given them 30 mins to call back with a solution after which point I would have taken it back to base. Stuff waiting 2 hrs without acknowledgement!!!

If you wait longer than two hours they usually pull you out of there. One time I was at a place for an hour with 5 cages, they told me to leave and bring it back. Sounds like your depot/area is a right pain in the backside? Are you with Stobarts or Tesco?

Thats fine if you can get out. Problem is you could be at one end of a service road looking at a gate, reversing out would be a last resort.

Here’s what I do, get to a store and ring the bell.
Wait 5 minutes and if no answer then ring the DC.
If no call back from the DC within 30 minutes call again…
And waiting outside a store for 2 hours is nothing - ive waited 4 hours because there were 2 deckers and a milk waiting to go in…
And if it is Stobarts you’re on for, then serves you right, shouldn’t be doing Tesco work anyway, don’t see Morrisons etc using outside contractors unless they are really busy :smiling_imp: :smiling_imp:

Pretty much all the supermarkets use subbies/contractors all year round :unamused:

Morrisons use subbies all year round at Wakefield.

To be honest, couldn’t really give a ■■■■ but, Stobarts walk and drive round the yard like they own the place - hence at least at where I am Stobarts are really hated…

True been in that situation before, one place I go to in Mold is a small service road which comes to a 12ft bridge and a gate on the left for the service yard.

That’s funny you should say that, the Tesco distribution centre at Widnes is built and owned by Stobarts, in fact the whole ‘park’ (O’connors ports, the biomass place etc) is built by Stobarts.

Why didn’t you ring them up?

I did,she said she’d tell back door staff,I rang driver line after 45 mins( no ring back), rang own depot( see what we can do), rang dc I loaded out of( we will ring shop), rang bell every 10 mins( it even says over microphone ,caller at back door :unamused: :unamused: ), it’s a straight alley up to yard gates,I looked at screen and could clearly see dot-com vans but he couldn’t see me :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: .
He knew I was there but couldn’t care as he was on till late,if I’m here he can be as well, but then I’d guess his boss told him once you get waggon tipped then you can go,then it was all steam ahead( apart from driver was well ■■■■■■ off,so it was then his turn to zb wait) :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: :smiling_imp:

As Ford Fairlane Would say: Ringing the Driverline is like jerking off by a cheese grater; slightly entertaining, but rather painful…
At the Tesco Kingston in MK I pushed the bell continously for ten minutes; they were ■■■■■■ off, but I did not care at all.
