Missed this out of my previous post - is one of my problems that I still have my U.K. licence?
Cheers Rob
Tomorrow being 31st of december, nights away is it ,a CPC is worth zero nothing sod all to the french,a UK hgv in it,s self should make no difference,EU and all that, suprised that you got the job over some french driver with the two F,s,any way good luck.
Thanks for that ,Froggy, but haven’t heard from them yet and it’s getting a bit late! Guess still no joy with dispensation - see what tomorrow brings.
Cheers Rob
that is a new one on me
maybe one of the others maybe able to help, but it sounds a bit dodgy to me.
best bet would be to give your local afpa driving center a bell and see what they say.
well done on getting the trail thou, you are doing better than me!!!
i have got a company to go and see in the new year, and hopefully tnt will come up with the goods.
best of luck
chris
ANPE put me on to Ecole Conduit Francais (local driving school?) and the guy said about the dispensation if I could prove driving history and get someone to offer me a job. So I dropped my c.v. round at a few places and this one rang me up with this offer but as I said previously the lady who runs the Co. can’t find out anymore about the dispensation and the guy at the driving school is on holiday till after New Year! Just my luck - Magnum as well!
The only dispensation you will get is on the fimo and then you have to provide references from before 95,one point you do not need a promise of a job for that but ask cave you will need at least a fcos, bull**** is the french way,don
t you love `um
by the way two jobs on the anpe web site one paying £4.90 an hour and the other paying £5.20 one was a class one and the other was for cutting vines guess which one was the class one,■■■■■■■■ last four days I worked in the UK £530/ at last 750 euro,s (ok weekend work) and the french only “work” 35hours work it out.
i was called in to the anpe before christmas, one offer was a frigo job on a 3 month contract, out all week 8.10€ an hour
the other was for the clermont zenith our local concert venue working on the sound systems, 35 hour week 7.something an hour minimum wage i think. another 3 month contract to start with but as i want to start my own business as well the 2 would work hand in hand, perfect
keep trying and it will sort its self out, hopefully tnt will come good early in the new year for me, will pay a visit next week.
bonne annee et bonne sante!!!
salut

Cave,8.10 is at todays rate £5.71,are you on with the assedic?£8.5 £9 per hour is not that hard to find in the UK and one can work 15hours a day,no wonder they are ■■■■ poor in france, work it out,3 mouths in UK and one can earn the same amount that you could earn in one year in france, you will not get rich in france.
froggy:

I’ve said it before but this is not necessarily so. As with all officialdom in France it differs from place to place. I needed no references, the boss just put me in for FCOS, end of story. Three days later, fully legal!
Robert, I assume that your prospective employer is not willing to start you till this is sorted out but if you can persuade her, just ask to be booked in for FCOS. That is all you need with your experience.
My FCOS lasts till May 2006 (it’s a 5 yearly thing) and I won’t bother to renew it because next time will be at my personal cost although we did have fun. Having passed the magic 60 I have to renew the SPL (Super Poids Lourds (Class 1 as was)) every two years and this comes up again in a few days time. This only involves about 20 euros for the doc. and as I’m fit as a fiddle will do it this one more time but after that - finito. Need it if I want to pull a caravan over 500kgs though. Mine weighs in at 499
Bonne chance, Robert
Salut, David.
Thanks once again for replies.
Froggy, why did you ask caveman if he is with Assedic?
Spardo, I have an provisional booking for Fcos in February as she did not want me doing FCOS whilst doing trial month but again can’t get confirmation till ECF start back Monday. Just hope all the problems don’t make her find someone else as there aren’t many co’s local to me out here in the sticks. Just hope I can do the trial before the FCOS.
Really appreciate all the advice I find on here - thanks.
“spardo” you do not need a fcos to be legal ask cave his first (and last)sorry cave, was with out one. When your boss put you in for the fcos he must of known your work history this being france and so told the company where you took your fcos that you had been driving before
95,the fact you your self did not have to provide any references does not mean that none where givern before you took the fcos.ps mine is a twin axle,1300kg 5.3m
ish
thanks for reminding me about my mis-hap froggy
as i said before, the fimo/fcos isnt needed if driving for a company that has its own truck doing work for its own private use ie collecting wood out of the forest that the company owns, or delivering its own finished product to its own shops or clients.
this is a very grey area and can get very complicated, my tutor at afpa didnt really want to go in to it when i asked about it as he was unsure about all the legalitys himself.
robert if anyone tells you, you can drive a french registered truck here on your english licence they are wrong as the medical only lasts 5 years, thus making your licence only valid for 5 years
it is very painless to change if you havent all ready done it, just go to your prefecture for the department or sous-prefecture if it is closer, take your english licence, 2 fotos, medical cert, passport or carte de sejour and a check for 20something euros, fill in the form, surrender the uk licence and they will give you a temporary one and about 2 weeks later the french one will drop in the letter box.
simple
as for the wages i know they will be crap to start with but will get better with time, i dont have any overheads as i live in the hotel at the moment and only have my ■■■■ to keep, just need that all elusive start
