1970s/1980s rare trucks

I worked with an old boy on Gist who used to drive one. He quite liked them.

That doesn’t look like a UK reg! But yes it’s another Dutch-cabbed lorry - could be Scania but they used that cab for local manufacturers as well.

I actually worked on one of these, Addington Motors recovery towed it into us off the M20. IIRC I renewed the knackered crankshaft damper. I had the easy bit, the storeman had the difficult job in getting the right part out of MAN.

I got the impression (perhaps wrong) that the OP meant UK-registered rare trucks. Perhaps he can clarify.

There was Quest trucks, remember an article in one of the mags, there was a tipper and s box van,

I think the idea was for a cheap no frills vehicle for the export market??

think one made the show fields but i have never seen it, Google supplied this photo….

It’s either a Miesse or Brossel, on a Belgian reg. The cab is a Belgian product as well, I always thought?

Yes, it does appear to have an AutoMiesse chassis, from the badge on the front, although the Dutch also used that cab for Scanias. I’m sure it’s a Dutch cab: it looks like a Paul (Carrosserie Paul of Rotterdam) or perhaps a Verheul.

It’s Belgian-registered, I know; but that firm, Transit-liner used foreign lorries - they even bought ERFs in the early ā€˜70s!

I asked around on a Belgian forum and it seems that the cab was made by Stoelen carrosserie from Lier, Belgium.

The earlier cabs on the Scania LV series were made by either De Graaff or Van Weel.

If you put both pictures next to each other you’ll see the differences.

Not necessarily about the 1970s/1980s, but interesting nonetheless

OK, thank you. I didn’t know about Stoelen. :+1:

I notice that truck posted by buzzer the blue ā€˜ā€˜wagon and drag’’ has a Cummins Diesel badge on it.

Ideally I was looking at UK-registered rare trucks, however any opportunities to consider rare trucks from throughout Europe is very welcome!!
