Why only ‘up to 150 trucks’ when up to 10,000 use Dover every day ■■? what’s that going to find …I was thinking about that too.
But 150 may be a fair figure for a single ferry? P.O. Burgundy takes 180 trucks apparently.
When some export trucks are being held in Manston because the French ports are blocked with trucks awaiting import clearance, and UK imports are being diverted to inland clearance points as there is insufficient parking in Dover and Folkestone, Manston will start to look quite small…
As you say 10,000 trucks an hour is just Dover isn’t it? Shuttle has done nearly 4,000 a day so 12,000 a day seems reasonable average. Given there’s humps and dips in traffic flow, 150 trucks as a one off, seems a ridiculously small number?

" the WTO director-general also said that while Britain would have to renegotiate its membership of the trade body after its EU departure, the process was relatively straightforward."
Oct 2016…
How many low bridges are there on the route?

As far as I understand we are already a member of the WTO in our own right, but obviously things in the past have been done with the EU, however the process of separating the UK from the EU in the WTO has been taking place for sometime now, some hiccups, such as not allowing a fast track process, but also some progress.
However I think a no deal Brexit would be a disaster for the UK, as I’ve heard from a reliable source that after one of his, now famous long lunches, (hic) Juncker has told Macron to nuke the UK to make sure no other country even considers a leaving the EU and as a bonus it would prove that an EU army is a viable World force for good.
Am I missing something because I don’t understand what the real problem is expected to be to cause all the road transport chaos after BREXIT? We have been through customs procedure changes before and survived the systems when UK was not in the EU. I would image HMRC will implement the necessary systems, they are actually good and experienced with such things!
Also most Ports use computerised clearance (and in some circumstances pre-clearance) systems. Also can vehicles and goods still pass borders/port control to final place of destination/clearance under TIR and ATR carnet regulations?
For Traders who already have duty deferment accounts for the payment of duty and VAT for non-EU imports and those who currently have to make EU Instastat declarations, there will surely be a system put in place by Customs to include EU/UK trade in the same way.
Hopefully UK Transport Operators will have access to the permits they require to enable them to deliver and collect to/between and back from places within the EU. Otherwise will a higher then now proportion of goods not end up being carried by EU Operators, including return loads by them under cabotage?
Never mind testing the planned parking place for lorry’s from/to Dover with 150 vehicles, will it not more show the effect of extra traffic that would use this route if using a hypothetical ferry at Ramsgate,
run by a company who has as yet no vessel and no experience of operating one but has been given loads of money to do so! If the figure is just 150 vehicles because this is the planned capacity for this possible ferry service, are 150 HGV’s per sailing going to take much strain off roads by not using Dover or any other Port?
Sorry if I don’t make sense or know what I am talking about!
Happy New Year and Happy Brexit!

Wow!. That hasn’t been reported in the mainstream media, so that obviously means it’s true.
Thanks for the heads up
, I’m gonna put some brown paper over my windows straight away.

I shouldn’t be too worried after Brexit.
The Brexiteers will be wandering round the post apocalyptic wastelands telling everybody how they got their country back and how the queues of trucks at the ports proved to be scaremongering, mainly due to the fact that the ports have been vapourised and the trucks electrics have been fried by the electromagnetic shock wave (except for Punchy Dan’s ). They’ll be ■■■■ a hoop how Brexit has not only stopped immigration in its tracks but the population of the country has been greatly reduced and how the British motor industry has made a great come back with their new Mad Max range.
Meanwhile the remaineers will be blaming the Brexiteers for forcing France to drop the bomb and telling everyone how it wasn’t the fault of the EU that we’re a nuclear wasteland, we voted out and therefore it was our fault. They’ll be complaining how thier houses have dramtically reduced in value, due to the fact they’re now just a pile of rubble, they’ll also complain that they can’t go to their holiday homes in Tuscany or the Dordogne, because of quarantine regulations.
So pretty much business as usual.

With the added bonus that some might have an extra finger or even arms to use for the finger pointing.
