15 minute break just after start of shift?

is anyone else struggling to remember to fit in the WTD breaks into their working day as well as the tacho breaks ? as far as i was aware for the wtd , 15 mins before 6 hrs or 30 mins before 9 hrs ? which is all well & good as i’ve usually had my 45 before the wtd 9hr slot, but it’s the remembering to have them before the next wtd 6hr slot . While i’m driving it’s fine but it’s during the deliveries, then back into the cab i’m forgetting about the latter round of breaks !

We’re already governed by driving time & legal breaks so why did the WTD break’s have to be applied to mobile workers ?
Or scrap the 45min rule for drivers & replace it with a 30min break after every 4 hrs worked , regardless of driving or other work

Only 30 before 9 if the work in the shift is not longer than 9 hours
If work in shift is more than 9 hours then no requirement to have 30 before 9 hours work

Why would you want to take a break as soon as you start work. And surely the older driver’s have heard of Mayfield chicks, they were all doing something similar and they all got caught and prosecuted. But please just tell me why you would want to do it.

Because if you arrive in Falkirk on Thursday night, park up for the night and tip in the morning. You can then wake up in the morning, drive across the yard, have 15 while tipping and then only have to stop at Lymm for 30 mins and get back to Guildford ASAP on a Friday, and 15 mins on Friday afternoon on the M25 is a hell of a lot of time, could be the difference between being stationary for 1 hour or rolling at 30mph for 20 mins. that’s why.

Ah now well  if its for my benefit then I would do the same if it’s for bosses benefit, well they can shove it.

I shall now put my wooden spoon back in its case

I get fed up being told I have to have 30 min break at 10am after starting work at 4am. If I’m on my own I have a 15 and never get an infringement upon having tacho card scanned, yet still told I’m wrong.
