15 hour spread

I don’t mind working a 15 spread!! Just as long as I don’t have to argue with the Boss after to get paid for it!! Especially when they try the “Your on a salary” chestnut! :smiling_imp:
(from personal experience recently)

Did Paul knock a late? :unamused: :open_mouth:

Err! Yep! I’ve not been paid a single one up to now!! He agreed to pay one for a run in last Saturday morning! So will know for sure this Friday!!
I only took this job as I was lead to believe I would be “looked after” for the overtime! Sadly let down so far! :unamused: Spoke to some old timers who said he never pays up! :open_mouth: So I’m looking elsewhere now! Oh! And according to fat Dan! Your only a proper driver if you buff diesel tanks! Sad git!

Who are you on for now dessy, thought you were on stobbies?

Your as usual living in your ‘if it was me and it was done like thins in this context’ fantasy land Carryfast. You talk about this euro work as if you did it. I did 8 hours driving in a 15 hour day in France yesterday, why? It took two hours to tip, 1 hour faffing around washing and trying to get the trailer dry, and 4 hours loading in Blois. You live in this ideal fantasy land where everything works like clockwork. Wake up man this is the real world. I don’t like sitting around for 4 hours waiting to load but I’ve the sense to realise that that’s life sometimes, you just have to deal with it. It’s not about the operation I work for, it’s about the people we collect from and deliver too.

So my point is no, if we were side by side yesterday you in your mythical 6x4 Detroit two stroke limited to 65 mph and 11 hours and me doing 53 and 15 hours I’d have been up the road loaded and you would have been waiting till morning to get the load on

@Wayned I left in March mate! I started at Coltons 6 weeks ago! I’m currently doing TNT trunks at night from Enfield to Kingsbury and back to Enfield! 10 and a half to 11 hours max! Paid the day rate though! :unamused:

I’m putting in an application tonight for TNT Enfield! A lot closer to home and easy work and better pay hopefully!

Good luck then mate, sorry if I missed the post on you leaving stobbies lol

TNT’s ok, I did a bit for a subby, but can’t do nights permanent, so never went full time, but they are supposed to pay well

I was thinking more along the lines of that £500 per week return run to Reggio that limeyphil was talking about in the good old days before the Poles etc started cherry picking all the best work. But with that what you’ve described I would have treated that extra 7 hours of zb’ing about as part of my 11 working hour day and parked up at the end of it :bulb: .Although at 65 mph max I wouldn’t have been far behind and I can remember a time when the French drove artics at that speed even along the RN’s let alone a zb Autoroute. :smiling_imp:

But seriously the idea of trying to compensate for too long spent zb’ng about on ‘other work’ by adding it to the working day and staying out on the road longer can and often does all end in tears at some point.

Assuming that the end of your 15 hour day was getting a bit further up the road before having to stop anyway. While I’m parked up before getting into the danger zone of sleepy time at the wheel and at 65 mph I’ll probably be close enough at the end of the following day assuming that it’s not a full load for Glasgow from Lyon in which case you’ve got no chance. :open_mouth: :smiling_imp:

I’m seriously starting to think that you spent your life in an office or a factory and are now regretting it. I 'd also hazard a guess that you own a caravan and tow it just for the sheer joy of it.

Come on, if you weren’t fit for it just admit it. Nobody will hate you and you’ll feel better for getting it off your chest.

Honest.

Carryfast has been there and done it… on euro truck simulator

Well Blois is nowhere near Lyon. You also have to understand that some of us have a bit of stamina and don’t doze off after 11 hours.

So lets entertain your fantasty a little. Today is the second day. I started 450km from Calais at 5 am. You would have just been loading maybe. Ran up to Calais, 20 minutes spent filling fuel, 45 minute break. Your speed advantage wouldn’t have been that great as well over half of the run was National roads and towns and villages. Got to Calais at midday. Let’s say you manged to catch me up in your speedy truck and we are on the same ferry, I’m being generous here. So Calais, ends up being a 2 and a half hour wait for a boat. Then the boat was delayed leaving Calais, don’t know why captain didn’t say. So ended up being 2 hours on the boat. OH NO! By the time the boat docks your half an hour over your 11 hour day! Dammit. Poor you. I drive off boat, stop in Tesco for some milk and a something for tea, now in South Mimms for a pee, will head off once I’ve written this and get onto M1 somewhere to park up. Another 14/15 day for me and 9 hours driving. Say we are both tipping Birmingham at 10am tomorrow which is my booking time, I should be under two hours away and an easy because it’s this side of Birmingham. Your in Dover a couple of hours behind, I wonder what time you’ll be hitting the M25? Oh yes, rush hour. I also get to get out of bed a couple of hours later than you, which is better as while you may finished at 5 (if you were lucky enough to find parking anywhere near Dover) you surely wont want to be going to bed at 7 will you?

Without a shadow of a doubt on this two day run if you were limited to 11 hours you’d be well behind me despite doing 65. Speed isn’t everything, maybe in your mind but not in reality.

And all that supposes you’d have got loaded instantly at 5 and caught me up. Both fairly unlikely and in all likelihood you wouldn’t have even made it across the channel today. but I like being generous!

I quite enjoyed writing that post! It’s all real by the way and my past two days work.

I’m sure he’ll come back with ‘if I was doing it in this context I’d only be doing full loads from Rome to Aberdeen so I’d beat you in my 65mph two stroke’ and so on. He’s detachment from reality is hilarious!
