Gateway Bridge

Big traffic problems around Mersey Gateway Bridge and Speke this morning.
HGV crashed into a gantry and left this.

BBC North West.

Probably done a runner hoping not to be found out. Leaving it there like that is crazy.

I wonder if there is identification on the body to trace the vehicle it was fitted too.

Article doesn’t say whether the offender had been dealt with. But also doesn’t say they are looking for them either.

With the number of cameras on UK roads he’s got zero change of not getting caught, unless it was a stolen vehicle

Tipper…

Driver innit. There’s a fair chance he doesn’t know he’s done it.

I have heard of get home Friday or foot down Friday but that is taking the Michael.

That bridge has more cameras than the BBC.
Been wondering all day about radio reports saying ‘overheight’ truck had hit Runcorn bridge…now all is clear! Thanks Binman.
Must say, the only time I have seen that is on youtube in usa.
Do the hydraulics creep on tippers? Or has driver engaged it accidently?

The cause doesn’t matter , silly sod can’t have used his mirrors for miles .

We have small tippers and if the bed lifts even slightly a warning light shows on the dash i assume something as big as that would have some sort of warning device fitted.

Why do they build signposts stronger than trucks?
