Sutton widnes

Evening all, Suttons are advertising at Widnes now on 40-45k, seems a little ambitious to me. Anyone here have any idea what money and hours are like over there?

Thanks

No idea on the hours but I know they are on time and a half after 8 or 9 hours.

Last time I saw them advertise with an hourly rate it was £10.48 basic with extras for o/t.

Yes, one of those sainted unionised companies with fantastic pay and T&Cs that the union shills here keep telling us about ! Oh wait, no. The shop stewards pocketed all the subs and sold them down the river!

I used to work for a company that was bought out by Sutton’s. I’d left before the takeover but obviously kept in touch with many mates who worked for them after the takeover, to a man they all hated Suttons and everything they represented, and to a man they have all subsequently moved to different companies.

I know a few that have not lasted at Widnes, never worked for them myself but they don’t have the best reputation.

Not the worst choice if the end game is a long bout of sickness for depression,

If you read through the advert it says something like, please note, these earnings are indicative for this group, actual pay will depend on hours worked :open_mouth: Edit, everytime i browse for jobs, they always seem to have an advert, maybe thats says it all, i dont know.

They’re permanently advertising. Not a good sign.

I could walk to their yard in fifteen minutes from my gaffe, they’ll even put me through the ADR
I’ve never been tempted, they have a terrible reputation amongst drivers locally and the rates are risible for ADR work, especially for some of really nasty industrial chemicals they carry pulled by their little small cab FM Volvo’s

If you do the ADR tanker module, they normally show videos from the 1980’s of horrific crashes including a nurse who assisted at the scene and was killed by spilt acid, she melted and there was not much left of the body .
I don’t envy the fire chief who has to deal with spillages or fires with the correct equipment and materials.

I was told today that its supposed to be going up to £11.50ph. That was from one of our drivers who has a mate who works there. Today’s daily ad on indeed says new pay structure agreed. Kerching.

Probably not far off, didn’t they just put basic up to 12.50? Most of your wage in Sutton’s is made up of overtime, time n half after 8 hrs, time n half Saturday n double bubble Sundays. They just don’t mention it in the adverts for some reason.

12.50 x 8 hrs = 100
18.75 x 3 hrs = 56.25
156.25 for 11 hr days, 5 days a week is 781.25
Makes 40,625 a year
Put in a few days over time and some dark money and you will make the 45k I imagine.

I stand to be corrected mind, I think that’s how the money goes with them, never worked there… But there’s plenty on here that think the time n half set up is the business, personally I prefer a giant flat rate :sunglasses:

They have a new advert up today, new pay structure agreed, they are now saying 43k to 49k £825-£940 per week

These wages look far to high for a company with such a bad reputation

Probably like most companies, if they need drivers they got to pay the going rate.

Just heard from a mate of mine its 11:50 an hour and as already said 1.5 after 8hrs and sat is first 5 hrs at 1.5 then after that it’s double for the rest of the shift and double on a sunday

Same as any job really, it’s dog ■■■■■ if you already get paid more, but it looks like a good number for someone on less money looking to move on. Handy way to get a bit of adr experience to move in to something better paid that requires said experience. It’s not very often something decent falls in to your lap, without a background in something more specialised than dragging around a curtain sider full of crisps…but these are different times just now apparently…

Any idea what they pay for a night out?
