Everything the police do except arrest or enforcement, we deal with non injury RTCs, carriageway defects, trained in carriageway clearance, clearing overturned vehicles, first aid, we carry defibs, we also carry booster packs to assist motorists with flat batteries, we carry skid skates so we can clear vehicles locked in gear or brakes stuck on. We carry spill kits to enable us to reopen lanes following small fluid spills. We assist in getting recovery for people who have none to get them to a place of safety, plus other things too many to mention. All that without having received a meaningful payrise in 10 years due to government pay restraints. I have in effect took a £400 a month pay cut. You get all that for the grand total of £26k a year - far less than a police officer. As for the Dascia, it hasn’t got the space or the grunt to allow us to carriageway clear. The Volvo is a hybrid so we are also doing our bit to save the environment.

The Volvo on the other hand? £68k to buy. How is that more suitable than say a Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck for less than £30k.
