Take the grant and use it for an electric boiler and preferably also buy a solid fuel boiler to go with it.
Anything would probably work out cheaper than the heat pump scam in the long term.
The idea of more energy out than energy in and heating water to 55 degrees C from freezing cold air is as believable as CO2 is cooking the planet at 0.04% of the atmosphere if it’s even a greenhouse gas at all.
As it stands they’ve just doubled the price of my gas from 3p per kwh to 6p per kwh but electric has also gone from 16p per kwh to 26p per kwh.
A cold house will just create condensation which can cause loads of uninsured damage and loss of value to the place.
The same applies in the case of filling cavity walls and removing ventilation in lofts.
