Was an article on radio yesterday.
Saying drivers of bin lorries in various areas of the country .are being approached on there rounds by companies.
Basically offering them jobs and.more money. And it’s leading to shortage of bin men in areas now.
Mostly Devon and Cornwall area .

Are Gregory’s that desperate

Yes. and let’s face it, whilst a lot of Class 2 drivers on the bins might yearn to move to a “proper” lorry driving job (no offence to bin lorry drivers intended, it’s a specialised job which I wouldn’t personally go near but respect those who do) I very much doubt there’s many going the other way. The bright idea to skip Cat C can only add to the shortfall.

I take no offence at the post above and can only speak for the places i work but i can honestly tell you few of our drivers leave to go elsewhere, we work 37 hours Monday to Friday and its job and finish, 27 days holiday plus bank holidays, no Tachographs and a brilliant pension scheme, its not for everyone and some drivers cannot stick it the ones that can tend to stay for many years or until they retire.
