Container work paid by the mile

TruckerAds:
Hi I’ve just been for an interview today and when I asked pay rates I’m told it’s 33 pence per mile, £12.50 for starting before 4am, £10 for opening the back door s, £15 to assist with unloading

£50 to start for a Saturday or Sunday and if I pull there tautinliner it’s £10 for every time I have to open the curtains

Absolute brain ■■■■, I’ve no idea if it’s even legal to operate like this?

They told me if I’m waiting at a delivery point obviously I ain’t earning but after 2 hours of waiting I get a £25 quid standing allowence

Anyone on here paid by the mile care to share your experiences?

I wouldn’t entertain any wage not quoted in an hourly rate - unless (and this is unheard of) the job was a specific pre-agreed run where you know how long it typically takes. And that £15 for assisted unloading would have me running for the hills on containers.
